they will go through your family history of illnesses, any other pregnancies you have had. and 'book you in'. ask you about where you want to have the baby, if you intend to breast feed etc. Also might take blood to check blood groups, anaemia, and round here they do a HIV one as well now. Good luck and congratulations!!

In addition to what everybody else has said - mine checked my stitches because I had a tore during labour. So if you have anything like that they will have a check and make sure that you are healing.
I tell you what dont do what I did! Because I knew she was coming on top of having a new baby and feeling rather unwell I decided that the house should be tidied from top to bottom otherwise she might think that I am an unfit mother!! Madness because of course she wasnt at all interested in all that stuff at all and was just there for me and the baby. Regret doing that now becasue I was really stressed! (I blame the hormones!!)

Midwife in my area asked all the usual health questions, but booked the 12 week scan at the hospital for me over the phone. I didn't have blood taken until I was 15 weeks and that was at my Drs surgery. She was only with me about 30 minutes in total, nothing scary about it.

Not scarey at all - just a lot of questions I seem to remember! (Told my boss I'd be a "bit late in" - I was in there for well over an hour!)
