Very cold drinks, suck ice cubes, ice cream and lollies are doing it for me. Also wet hair and tie it back and wear damp underwear. Wrap packet of frozen veg in a tea towel and cuddle it. All sounds a bit weird bu5 it helps! I did the hoovering in my underwear this evening, needs must!

I remember this feeling last year when I was pregnant - one evening I went and sat in my car just to put the air con on! I would suggest tip top style ice lollies (they are cheep and easy to eat) in freezer - I was eating them at 2am last year! Freeze bottles of water and drink ice cool water as it melts

I could of wrote this. Lol. At 5pm I decorated to DH "it sucks civilised society means I have to wear clothes in this heat. Pregnant women shouldn't be expected to" ive literally star in front of my fan all day while melting. :( I do like to use a spray bottle though and keep spraying myself with cold water. I'm 33 weeks and counting down now. I can't remember being this warm with previous babies.

Bluebirdsky · 27/05/2018 23:14

I have some how managed to get a cold as well and think I have a mild fever which really isn't helping.
Ice lollies and a spray mist thing are keeping me sane at the moment.

SlimGin · 28/05/2018 00:38

Sorry, I don't agree with damp underwear - can bring up a rash if you're sensitive. I agree with everything else, though. Keep your hands and feet cool. At home dip your feel in a washing up bowl filled with water and ice. Dip your hands in, too.
During the day, keep the curtains closed.

I’m 37 weeks and living in a country where the temperature is going over 40 degrees most days (and it’s only going to get warmer) I do have AC in my house and office so can’t complain but a few tips are:

  • keep curtains pulled in the house all day
  • drink lots and lots of water
  • loose cotton clothing - I avoid anything tight including a bra as much as possible. Also flip flops are best for hot swollen feet
  • lots of ice lollies/ice pops
  • cool showers
  • spray bottle of water/face mist
  • hair tied up and off my neck

Keep some wet flannels in the freezer in sandwich bags, to put on the back of your neck.

I’m only 10 weeks and struggling. I wonder if it’s a fort and third trimester thing? I struggled in my third trimester last time, it’s not easy is it?

I wet muslins and put them on my arms and legs and sat next to a fan last time. I also had horrendous PUPPP so it was a double whammy.

Hiya

In 2014 it was that Indian summer in Scotland and boy was I toasted - I tried everything and was also 65kg heavier and I've put below a few tricks.

Close all curtains and blinds but open windows.

Keep a few wet muslins in the fridge in a sealed box and put around back of neck and over head.

Hydrate even if you need to live in the loo lol

Avoid dairy - for some reasons makes me hotter?

Keep a hot water bottle full of cold water in fridge x2 - put them between knees

Check with pharmacy but use Dioralyte if needed.

Wear cotton- much cooler.

Believe it or not, have a hot drink as it forces body (mine anywsy) to cool down.

Pregnant again this time round and 29 weeks feels like I'm living on the sun.

SecretStash · 28/05/2018 14:31

The ‘hot drink cools the body’ is absolutely incorrect.
People might believe what they read but it will increase your body temperature and have you sweating and panting more.
Don’t fall for it.

twistedpink · 28/05/2018 19:17

My friend told me about putting maxi dresses on straight from the washing machine. I've bought a fan, does the job for me. Cold shower then a fan actually lol

MeadowHay · 28/05/2018 19:24

I'm 37 weeks and just wearing minimal clothing with all the windows open and sitting right in front of the fan. Our flat is third floor and full of windows which lets all the sunlight in - it's beautiful but boiling! Have three of the blinds closed where the sun is at its brightest to shut it out. Me and my guinea pig are both boiling.

gryffen · 28/05/2018 23:02

@secretstash- that's why I said it works for me - something work for for one but not others.

🙂

pastabest · 28/05/2018 23:16

I spent the whole of my pregnancy with DC1 absolutely freezing so I've been glad of the warmth this time.

I'm 38 weeks but seem to be managing pretty well by living in the garden under a parasol during the day watching DC1 play and wearing loose clothing for the last few weeks.

I live in the middle of nowhere with no neighbours though so I can get away with not wearing a huge amount if I need to.

There's an outdoor pool in one of the villages nearby that offers a toddlers and expectant mums session in the morning and I'm definitely going to go at some point.
