Has anyone used it in late pregnancy and was it effective? What were the results?

I did and both DCs arrived early I feel this was a coincidence, however both my labours were quick. With Dc2 I was examined around 9-9-30am and was only 2.5cm I called them back around an hour later stating I wanted to push, student midwife didn't quite believe me but DC arrived at 10:55am.

Placemarking to see what others say as my mum swears by it. I’m 35 weeks and thinking of starting it at 37.

Bugger all.
IMO all evidence is coincidence.

senua · 26/05/2018 08:15

and was it effective? What were the results?

I don't know if it was effective but I took it and had two easy births: probs about 6 hours, no tearing at all. I don't know if it was the RLT or something else (eg my child-bearingHmm hips) but unless someone comes up with some study to say it's actually harmful then I'd say go for it, what's the worst that could happen? I had my babies years ago - before such things were available in the shops - and made my own RLT by going out to the garden and picking my own so it cost me nowt!Grin

No evidence, but I drank it and had 2 early babies and short labours.

ShackUp · 26/05/2018 08:21

(Tore like a fucker though first time Blush)

ShowOfHands · 26/05/2018 08:25

Early/late is irrelevant as it's a uterine tonic and taken to make the pushing stage more effective. Nothing to do with inducing labour.

I love raspberry leaf and drink a lot of it anyway.

My second stage with dc1 was 8 hrs...

whatsagoodusername · 26/05/2018 08:28

I used it. Dc1 arrived on his due date, took ages to be born (36ish hours from waters breaking).

Dc2 was a week late. About 12 hours labour.

I don't think its effects are real. But does no harm if you can stand drinking it so give it a go! Good luck!

EssentialHummus · 26/05/2018 08:32

Not sure, but anecdotally dates seemed to help.

NonDomina · 26/05/2018 08:48

I started it about 32 weeks with DC2, and felt it bring on BH when I drank it. Upped the dose as the weeks went on to a litre of strong iced tea a day - at least. Induced at term and labour was short (1.5 hours) and without pain relief (partly owing to the speed) and I think my body has regained more of my original figure in the days postpartum more quickly than with DC1.
I enjoyed drinking it too, which helps

Needmorehands · 26/05/2018 09:06

I've got nothing to compare it with as I drank 2-3 cups towards teh end of each pregnancy and had quick labours each time, but I haven't had a pregnancy where I didn't drink it so can't say if it changed anything. It tastes pretty harmless, so drink it if you like it, or not if you don't. I didn't bother with teh capsules/tablet form

strawberrysparkle · 26/05/2018 09:10

I drank it and my labour was less than 2 hours from first contraction to finish. Probably a coincidence but worth a try

HerSymphonyAndSong · 26/05/2018 09:16

Well ultimately the results were that I had a baby Grin

If you don’t hate drinking it it’s worth a try. I had 2-3 cups a day from 35 weeks and baby came at 40+3 with a 2-hr second stage and no stitches.

However this could easily be coincidence

Littlejayx · 26/05/2018 09:17

I had two glasses a day from 37 weeks and had a 5 hour labour.

Mousefunky · 26/05/2018 09:33

I’ve always drank it in the last trimester but I really don’t think it did anything.
