I'm off to Prague next week with DH for three days. I'll be 26 weeks pregnant.
Spoke to midwife who said they don't issue fit to fly letters. My pregnancy has so far been lowest possible risk.
Can only find one insurer who will cover prem labour and they insist on a fit to fly letter
What do I do?!

Get one from your GP. They may charge but only about a tenner I think

some only issue after 28 weeks, so you might be ok without as long as your insured.
im flying at 23 weeks and have no clue who to get insured with and how to inform them of my pregnancy as there is nowhere on the online forms to do this, do i have to ring them after purchase?

Also interested in this post! Hoping to go away when I will be 26/27 weeks. From research lots of midwives doctors won't issue fit to fly but will write to say you are low risk and how far along you are. That should be enough for most airlines and insurers. My insurance will cover me before 28 weeks for complications but after that not birth. Guessing that before 28 weeks they would consider birth a complication? Jet2 we are hoping to fly with don't require fit to fly before 28 week but will be getting a letter confirming my dates before I travel in case they question the size of my bump!

My GP charges £30 for it. For medication proof outside the EU I was charged £20.

As long as you are low risk normal travel insurance should cover you before 28 weeks.

Sorry posted too soon! I got travel insurance for a holiday 2 weeks ago from here and they didn’t require a fit to fly as far as I know. Cover premature birth, money for travel documents for baby and extra accommodation etc etc. Still take you EHIC though. I did get a fit to fly from Midwife although no one asked to see it and I was 31 weeks so very pregnant looking.
