Experiences with reduced movements

Hi all,

Just after other people’s experiences. I went into hospital last week with reduced movements and was kept in for several days, some CTGs were good, others took up to 4 hours to meet criteria, and others were just stopped before meeting criteria. Doppler and growth scans were good, and gestational diabetes was negative, so no reason could be found. Baby started to pick up after about 5 days and I have been allowed home with daily monitoring. Baby has had mixed results this week but has hit criteria within 50minutes each day, although has required me rolling on to my side and drinking cold water etc.

I’m due to see the consultant on Friday for a plan of action, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar? I am 32 weeks at the moment and have been told the longer we can keep it in the better, but wonder if/when others have been induced?

Hi lass

I was induced in 2014 with my daughter after 3x reduced movements so after a check on Wednesday night I had another consultant appointment on Thursday and was admitted Friday and had a good listen in and scan.

Induced 5pm on Friday and she was born on Sunday at 7.50am with a wee help with forceps (I asked due to feeling her stuck) and no issues..

I was 38+5 when she was born.

Totally get the nerves that come with reduced movements and your doing everything right- they will probably try and get you to 37+ before inducing but if needed before that then just roll with the plan and you will be taken care of.

Good luck mama.

Thanks Gryffen, the doctor who discharged me said the first aim is 34 weeks so we are tentatively making steps towards that. It’s such a nervous time, but good to hear the experience of others!

I had reduced movements throughout the third trimester with DD last year. I was on the CTG two or three times a week from 28 weeks and my care moved to the hospital. It was a frightening time and everything they suspected they either couldn't confirm or ruled out. Growth scans were variable and GD negative.

Because DC1 had been an EMCS after failed induction I pushed for an ELCS not an induction and delivered DD safely at 38+6 via CS.
