Growth scan

I am 31 + 5 and when I was measured today I have been referred for a growth scan. I thought this might be the case as last time I was measured I was on the verge of being too small. I felt reasonably calm about this but then my midwife has said today that if there was any reduced movements over the time I'm waiting for the scan to ring triage straightaway (that I can cope with) but to say that my midwife was worried and concerned and to ensure I was seen straight away. This has obviously got me all worried and panicked now. Has anyone else had a growth scan about now, if baby is growing properly what happens?? TIA

Shouldn't be anything to worry about babies all arrive in different sizes. I had this with my 3rd and sonographer said there was nothing wrong as baby stacks on the most weight in the final weeks of pregnancy. Midwife only sent us as a precaution. They checked his heart rate. and made sure the cord was ok. If they think baby was too small they might want to monitor you more closely.
Try to think of the positive side you'll get a sneak peak of all baby's features and some extra reassurance x

Flowers that is seriously stressful to hear from a midwife.
All I can say is if they had any concerns over the health of the baby they would be monitoring you right now.
I went to PAU last week for reduced movement and whilst there the midwife did loads of additional checks and referred me to a consultant. She told me was simply bc of my age.....cue me not really believing her and thinking actually there is something more to this or why would she have got me an appointment within 3 days (they are like gold dust) so a weekend of worrying only to see consultant on Monday and be told all is fine and no need to worry.
If midwife had any concerns you’d know about it, perhaps she just said it so they prioritise your call? Of course hopefully you won’t need to make one!
Try not to panic, it could have been her way of trying to make you feel reassured (although obvs doing the opposite in reality!)

As a midwife, I might say this to a woman, not wanting to freak her out
while she is waiting for an appointment or a scan, but to make sure she is not fobbed off during busy periods. I tell them a form of words to use to ensure the staffs attention is caught.

While 99% of my women attending for reduced fetal movement are OK in the triage screening safety net, there is that 1% baby who needs help today. I dont know which one that will be but I would be failing in my responsibility if I didnt make sure that a woman in whom Ive identified a possible risk factor, doesnt get into that safety net.
