Hello,

So I phoned up but the aldy wasn’t clear enough and I didn’t get what she meant.. i asked if I can come for a scan because I’m concerned about my baby’s movement, and she said ‘we will be able to scan you after 4pm’ . What does she mean?? Can I not go earlier than 4pm to that unit and I should go to the walk in centre or what?

That’s in St Mary’s hospital in manchester

Ring her back and ask. From what you've said it sounds like she says to go in at 4pm. A walk in centre would be no help, you need the early pregnancy unit.

FWIW I've been in 3x with reduced movements and all has been fine Flowers

How many weeks are you?

Normally it's an hour on the monitor for reduced movement, I was only scanned after 3rd instance.

I’ve been twice for RM, as I was 22 & 25 wks they didn’t scan me but they used the sonicare doppler to check heart rate for baby and also did some basic checks on me - blood pressure / temp etc.
If you feel you need to be seen urgently then ring them back and ask to go in today, they might not have capacity to scan you but they can listen for heart beat and check movement that way. It of course depends how far along you are as to whether that’s a possibility for you.
Call the lady back either way so you’re sure what you need to do.
In my experience they are helpful and welcoming so definitely call them back and say you’re worried. Flowers

Yes she told me to come in at any time as they are 24/7 although I didn’t get if they can only scan after 4pm and not before or what did she mean by that... I’m 19weeks by the way

It’s unlikely they will scan you for the first instance of reduced movements at 19 weeks.

I’ve been in a few times due to baby’s movements and poor growth - pre 28 weeks they do a Doppler check (listen to the heartbeat) and then your blood pressure and urine. After 28 weeks it’s an hour on the monitor.

The only time I was actually scanned was at around 34 weeks when it was the third instance of reduced movement and the baby only moved once in an hour on the monitor.

I would ring and check - I’ve always been told that the Doppler/monitor checks should be done ASAP.

Just to add as reassurance, I was told that babies don’t move consistently and have a pattern until nearer to 24 weeks as they’re so small so can easily tuck themselves away in a corner where you can’t feel them, so hopefully there’s nothing to worry about. My sympathies though, it’s such an anxious time.

Its very early to even feel movement, so try not to be too worried. I'm 21 weeks with my third and I've just started to feel movement, and yesterday felt nothing at all.

Anastasiakr · 23/05/2018 13:17

Thank you everyone I appreciate that
And yes I read aswell that it’s normal not to feel movement at this time, although I’m concerned because a week ago I felt it constantly for 2-3 days in a row and now it’s just stopped... so feel a bit anxious and I rather check than wait longer..
I will try and go in later tonight , does it actually matter what time you come or not really? No matter when I will come they will do whatever’s necessary to check if everything is fine?

They might be fully booked with appointments until then, so they advise you to come in after that time? I'd definitely call back and check though as if you go back too late you might have a huge wait!
