I lost 1 twin 6 weeks ago and once we got to 12 week scan we thought everything was fine. Blood results showed low papp A but just said it would mean growth scans from 30 weeks. Anyway today at 14+2 i was feeling a bit crampy but only in hindsight. Then at 10am (at work!!!) I thought i was wetting myself, couldnt use pelvic floor to stop so ran to the loo and it was fresh blood by the bucket load. Phoned up and got told to come in through a n e so here i am. Ive had an internal and they think cervix is closed (which i am assuming is a good thing🤞) but they cant really tell where the bleed is from. I am desperately waiting for a scan 😭 so scared that there wont be a heartbeat.

I had almost exactly the same thing happen to me. My cervix was also closed and they couldn’t find a cause for the bleeding. My scan showed baby was fine (I was so scared waitinga nd during the scan) after the scan they told me I had a low lying placenta which was covering my cervix and the most likely cause. Apparently they don’t tell you about it usually until 20 as the placenta usually moves up by then. They said that I should expect to bleed again (which I have) but unless I was in pain or haemorrhaging just monitor and call my maternity ward

Following that I was given Extra scans at 28 weeks and have another at 35 weeks plus a consultant review.

KoshaMangsho · 22/05/2018 14:07

Do you have a low lying placenta?

venus417 · 22/05/2018 14:11

Thank you for this. I am hoping thats the issue then or something other than miscarraige anyway. Noone has mentioned my placenta. I haven't had the scan yet. I had my 12 week scan a couple of weeks ago and nothing was mentioned about placenta.

Fingers crossed for you.

PenguinChristmas · 22/05/2018 14:13

I was told they don’t because it’s likely it will move.

Apart from the blood (which is terrifying I know) are you in pain at all? When I went in they said I should be reassured by the fact I’m not in pain because a miscarriage at that stage would have contractions.

Are you having a scan soon? Fingers crossed it’s all ok x

littleneepo · 22/05/2018 14:14

Are you still bleeding or has it stopped? Have you had any clots or is it just brighter blood?
I had a similar thing happen at 10 weeks with my DS1 (now a toddler!)
Had some weird crampy feelings, rushed to the toilet thinking I’d wet myself and turned out was bleeding really heavily. It was always bright red (didn’t turn darker brown and didn’t have clots which I was told at a&e is apparently a good sign) and it slowed down after a few hours & then stopped after about 5 hours. They did scan and blood test and couldn’t find any sign of why the bleed happened - still a mystery to this day! I was offered extra scans later on for reassurance.
Really keeping my fingers crossed for you that all is well, and so sorry you lost 1 twin early on in your pregnancy.

Frenchiemamax · 22/05/2018 14:16

I cant offer any advice but really crossing my fingers for you OP xx

Emelene · 22/05/2018 14:17

Have you got anyone with you OP? Flowers

venus417 · 22/05/2018 14:17

Yea feel really groggy and periody. Its my 3rd baby and id say i feel like early labour. Not contractions though its constant. No clots just fresh red blood and lots of it. Feel very uncomfortable.

Fingers crossed for you OP. I had a lot of bleeding at 14 weeks too. They couldn't work out where it came from, all was ok though, I did have it again at 29 weeks (same thing). It is very scary. I had low Papp-a too so had the extra scans but ours ended up going the opposite way and DD was 10lb6. I hope it all works out for you

venus417 · 22/05/2018 15:24

Had the scan. Baby is fine thank god! I have a large haematoma sitting right under the babys sac which looks as big as the baby. Not sure what this means going forward just waiting for the dr to review the results.

Unsureneighbour · 22/05/2018 15:31

I was going to suggest heamatoma. I had a huge bleed at 9 weeks and was certain I had lost the baby. It was a large subchorionic heamatoma which bled on and off for about a month then stopped. The baby is happy and healthy and now 3 weeks old, although from what I could find out at the time some haematomas end happily like mine, and others sadly do not. Fingers crossed for you. Flowers

Trixie101 · 22/05/2018 15:53

I'm currently going through the same thing 12+4 weeks had bright red blood in my knickers and alot of blood in the toilet too but no cramping and no clots went to A&E and they have booked me into EPU for tomorrow morning so have a night of worrying ahead of me bleeding seemed to have pretty much stopped then went to check my mums horse came back went to the loo again and there is more bright red blood in there, I hope everything is OK I'm so pleased the baby is okay❤️❤️

PenguinChristmas · 22/05/2018 17:09

So pleased everything is ok!!! If it’s a haemotoma i expect might bleed some more so hopefully the dr will be a LE to offer some advice.

Try get lots of rest! X

ichifanny · 22/05/2018 17:48

I had the same it was haematoma I was terrified by he amount of blood and thought it was over I bled for about 4 weeks when it finally went brown then stopped .

venus417 · 22/05/2018 18:03

I have to see a consultant in 2 weeks and for a scan to make sure its shrunk/gone. What a stressful day. Been signed off for 2 weeks and told to rest. Thanks everyone your positive stories are reassuring. @trixie101 hope everything is ok tomorrow

I had low PAP A and placenta previa and bleeding at 10 weeks, all worked out fine. Flowers

NotAnotherUserName5 · 22/05/2018 18:44

I had the same thing happen with my son. Massive dramatic bleed, and it was a subchorionic hematoma, like yours.

I bled for a few weeks, but then went on to have a non eventful rest of pregnancy.

Try to rest up when the bleeds are heavy, stay hydrated and avoid heavy lifting.

Rachie1986 · 22/05/2018 18:48

Goodness what a day for you OP. Hope things settle and all progresses well x

littleneepo · 22/05/2018 19:02

So glad everything is ok. Try your best to make the most of the time off and relax!

venus417 · 22/05/2018 19:20

I would really love a non eventful rest of pregnancy. I have an interview for a promotion at work on Thursday which I really want to go to. Not sure whats best.

Hi, I really hope you get on okay. I wanted to share that I have had this three times in early pregnancy to the point where I was in A&E with blood coming through my jeans. Each time I had a scan and each time my cervix was closed and it all turned out fine. Each scan showed a bleed and no one can answer me as to why this happened. Just to reassure you that it can all be okay and I am currently on the countdown of third trimester. Wishing everyone who experiences this well and good luck for your interview if you go.

venus417 · 23/05/2018 11:49

To those of you who bled through your pregnancy did you then bleed more in labour? I have 2 children already and both times I have had post partom haemorrage. It was just a thought I had last night. Wondered if I would bleed even more this time 🙈 thats if I am lucky enough to get there!

OP posts:
LBNM19 · 23/05/2018 12:49

I had this is my last pregnancy and i also have one now. The bleeding is very scary at first but it does calm down. Last time i bled for 6 weeks, so far I've been bleeding for 4 weeks. They don't tell you this but no heavy lifting and resting for the first few days helps.

NotAnotherUserName5 · 23/05/2018 14:03

No-my blood loss with that pregnancy was labour was normal.

Most SCHs resolve by 20 weeks, and are well gone by the time labour comes.
Have you been checked for any clotting issues? Given your history of haemorrhage, it might be worth asking if your could be checked.

There is a good support group on Facebook- 'SCH support group' I joined when I was going through it.
