From my midwife, obviously. She asked why, and I said I didn't need formula, jar foods or disposable nappy adverts.....Then I felt a bit silly.I don't know why I said it really, I made some comment about being a hippy at heart which difused the situation... I threw away my 'emma's diary' after opening every page to see an advert. Did anyone else feel the same? Please say I'm not the only one!

Oh dear, I've just read my thread title and I'm cringing at my bad English (I not I'd - terrrible seeing as i have got an A-level in 'words' )

I'm so glad I'm not the only one to think its rubbish BUT I'm totally swayed now on picking one up -you lot have taught me there are so many other uses for the crap items, I'm even considering getting a chihuahua just to make use of the newborn nappies (LOL NBG!)

i thought they crap aswell TBH, not bothering this time. I don't use normal disposables anyway, or most of the baby products they try to get you to buy with their coupons.

And i threw away my Emma's diary malarky aswell- well, recycled it.

My bouty bad from DD3 (who is now 13m) is still sitting in her room - I have taken the samples and vouchers out but nothing else. I can't "just throw it away" as her neonatal hearing test results are in there which should take out. I need to sort through it...

Lizzer - my midwife couldn't understand why I didn't want it either (and over every other issue I'd got on really well with her). I told her that I didn't want any of the samples and I didn't want to end up on their mailing list but I think she was very reluctant to let me leave the hospital without my signature on the form.
The bit I hate is they ask for your new baby's name and d.o.b. How early do they need to start with the junk mail?

Just give them a fake email address and phone number.

I'd already had a lot of practice doing that .

The free stuff is great for days out and/or camping and caravaning or self-catering holidays.

Just throw it in the boot of your car in case you get caught out.

I found a use for all that stuff - just not what they planned .

expatinscotland · 22/05/2007 22:51

I even took a photo of it all laid out for the girls' scrapbooks .

Enid · 22/05/2007 22:53

I gave mine to the dds

they thought it was the most exctiing thing ever

expatinscotland · 22/05/2007 23:00

Make up an address, email and postcode.

Actually, the one I used isn't made up.

I just never lived there .

Woooozle100 · 23/05/2007 08:48

Completely agree that it is bag o shite. Bit of sudocrem and toothpaste is not worth the constant junk mail and waste of trees imo. It really upsets me too cos my dd (now 2) has physical and mental disabilities so all the stuff I get is way off the mark (Like last year from Pampers - now yr baby is mobile and walking try these active fit. Arrrgghh she's not)

I tried to stop this mail by signing up to something online. Hasn't worked cos I still get it

Am taking none of it this time round - and will put this point across to bounty woman if she tries to hassle me

Tutter · 23/05/2007 08:51

i will Just Say No this time

bleedin junk mail with 1 crappy nappy (well, not literally) inside
