Only 4 weeks and nausea?!

Okay, it could be premature but I only found out on Tuesday with an at home test the day after my period should of started. It had a few syntoms before then like, hot flushes in the morning and evening, nasal congestion, metallic taste and heighten smell (mainly to processed foods! Or tubaware)

Yesterday thou, decided to start raising the bar!!! Felt tired all day, legs felt like lead. And the nausea was on the increase. Now nausea is a normal PM's sign for me so I just shrug it off. But yesterday it was enough to go to give me pause and snack ( since it feels like hunger nausea) then driving home it felt like travel sickness, which is a sign for when I'm driving! And then in the middle of last night for no reason I woke up with my heart racing feeling sick!!
Fortunately (or unfortunately) because I'm an emetophobe, I bought ginger biscuits for my bedside last week 'just in case' I had half a biscuit some water and willed myself back to sleep.
Hubby tried to blame the Chinese takeaway or overthinking things but trying to explain it's not an upset stomach it was more hunger nausea/heat stroke nausea ... Something I don't think he's experienced.
But should I be getting these syntoms do early?

I got early symptoms when I was pregnant with twins Grin

Jenniferturkington · 18/05/2018 09:21

Yes I vomited from the day my period was due in two out of three pregnancies. Is it your first?

SparklingNarwhal · 18/05/2018 09:39

Omg twins!? That's would be a shock to the system! And yes my first, trying for 2 months and our first positive.

Got nausea again this morning at work and I've already had a bowl of cereal so I'm going for some peanut butter for some vitamin b6!!

Not all pregnancies result in nausea. A lot of friends I know did not feel sick at all. I never felt sick during my pregnancies. My second one I felt slightly tired. I did get the I need to eat thing though, which I made sure to do! I used to always skip breakfast, but once I was pregnant I need it or I would feel starving. Or perhaps that hunger nausea you describe? But it was not really, as I just ate when I felt hungry and was fine. If I did not eat, then I probably would have felt sick.

I also suffer from emetophbia and I always have ginger ale in the house. Luckily I have a pretty strong stomach. Wish I could say the same for my dd, who seems to catch the vomiting bug more often then my ds. Knock wood! Its not easy being an emetphobia with kids!

I kinda hoped I wouldn't get nausea as a symptom but given as I got it from PMS (so from the progestrone?) So I figured I wasn't getting away Scot free ... But it feels different, like all my avoidance techniques might work, such as:
Anything with ginger in it, gum, cold press for the neck but unfortunately peppermint tea is out the window so I've been told which kinda blows.
As for kid sick, I nominate hubby.

I had nausea from just before my period was late - it was the first clue I had that I was pregnant. Just starting to ease off now at 11 weeks.

Stephisaur · 19/05/2018 16:24

My nausea kicked in the day my period was due. That and the abundance of saliva were my main clues!

Nausea has been pretty constant since then (now 9 weeks) but have only been sick 3 times. I find eating little and often helps. I’ve basically been living on crisps 😂

Aw12345 · 19/05/2018 18:34

My nausea/vomiting started at 3 weeks!

SparklingNarwhal · 19/05/2018 19:36

Well the nausea is still there but sulking in the background. Feeding it helps. Also, a neat trick Costa's red summer berries cooler is good for nausea and headaches!
I have a intial meeting with the midwife at my new GP on 7th June, kinda nervous about that one

Okay, baby doesn't like walnuts. It was ok with them at 1pm today but this evening decided were not eating those anymore ... I loved walnuts.

With all 3 pregnancies I have known I was pregnant before missed period due to symptoms. Early pregnancy is a time of huge changes in your body.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 20/05/2018 07:58

I suffered with hyperemesis with my two successful pregnancies. In each case the first inkling I might be pregnant was when I suddenly found I felt nauseous and didn't 'like'foods that I'd previously loved, just before period was due.
Hope your nausea settles soon - I wouldn't wish my experience on my worst enemy.

Lauren83 · 20/05/2018 08:05

I have emet so I know how you feel, I was so scared of being sick during my pregnancy but I never was, I just felt it from about 9 weeks when my HCG levels got higher. I think sometimes with emet we convince ourselves we do when we don't, I always panic I'm going to feel sick and then start feeling it. Hope you feel better soon

polkadotjersey · 20/05/2018 09:14

Same! I felt really queasy from three days before my period was due.

SparklingNarwhal · 20/05/2018 09:14

Oh I agree Lauren!!
That panic is the worse. At the moment it's felt like 'hunger' sickness rather norovirus (which is the worst) so far, I can handle that. Ginger biscuits thou have been a saving grace, they manage to holt any nausea while I find something to snack on properly and I can win back control.

But why did it have to destroy walnuts :(

My nausea kicked in at 10dpo. I then had food poisoning at 12dpo from some food at work, and my nausea went from bad to worse at about 6 weeks. I’m now 13+2 and can see the light st the end of the tunnel. But I’ve been on antisickness medication from about 7 weeks too.

Lauren83 · 20/05/2018 09:53

It's such a horrible phobia, I used to wear the travel sickness bands for peace of mind, I would snack on plain crackers but I went off anything sweet and just craved salty things. I think you need to find something as a comfort thing, I used to always have smints in the car and if I felt sick in the car I would have one and it would pass, I know it was in my head though and I would panic about being sick in the car in front of someone. I haven't actually been sick since I was 9 and I'm 34 now!

I still cringe now at my c section in Jan I was convinced I was going to be sick during it (I wasn't) and went on about it that much they had to sedate me just to shut me up!
