Hi, I'm around 5 weeks pregnant, and am looking at all of the advice for pregnant women - about eating certain things, avoiding eating certain other things, exercising and so on.

Personally, I'm eating as recommended, and I'm exercising a bit (long walks with the dog, pilates).
I'm fine with not wearing perfume, and I'm not using my usual aerosol products like deodorant and hairspray.
I'm cleaning a bit more - without harsh chemicals, and the windows at home are open most of the day.
I've binned some of my skincare products because they contained some of the (potentially?) dodgy parabens.
I am struggling a little bit with not using makeup/skincare products and I really would like to continue to wear a bit of moisturiser, SPF, lipstick and foundation on a daily basis.

I was wondering which habits you changed after getting pregnant;
did you follow the advice regarding what to eat and what not to eat, did you stop using makeup,
not using sprays/aerosols,
not using perfume/scented products
change detergent, soap and other products to unscented versions,
did you make sure to clean more often and open windows twice a day to get fresh air in the home,
avoid parabens/other specific ingredients in food or personal care products
or anything else?

I feel like there is a lot of advice around, and it is quite overwhelming.

Friend sent me copy of "What to expect when you're expecting". It was quite perfectionist about food (bit like this thread is... about everything).

Turned out I was glad if any calories stayed down my throat.
Book was useful in other ways. Just not wrt "what to do and not do"

It’s good to keep as active as you can - just listen to your body. I’m almost immobile with spd and I’d LOVE to be able to job or be more active :(

Yep. Today I’ve had two ham sandwiches made with white bread, a packet of cheese and onion crisps and 2 slices of toast. Literally all I can stomach.

@BertieBotts The toddler thing is because of an infection called CMV. It's a virus that lots of people carry and is usually harmless but it can have a devastating effect on a developing foetus so it's dangerous for pregnant women to contract it. Apparently it's carried by most toddlers (more so than other groups) and is spread by bodily fluids.

I only know because I was tested for it in my last pregnancy (I was fine) so I did a bit of research into it. Turns out pregnant women shouldn't be kissing toddlers on the lips and should be washing hands thoroughly after nappy changes or contact with vomit, spit, anything like that (don't we all do that anyway?).

There's nothing in the NHS guidance for pregnant women about it though! There really should be. Not to the extent that you've explained but maybe a quick 'ensure your personal hygiene is tip-top when t comes to tots and their dribble' wouldn't go amiss.
