New Job - 10 weeks

So I just started a new job , office based so nothing strenuous. However I didn’t tell them at interview that I was pregnant as I didn’t want that to hinder my chances.

I’m 10 + 4 with my scan on 31st which is slap bang in the middle of the working day.

It’s a small family ran company, I just don’t want them to feel as though I have stitched them over.

I am planning on telling them next week but make out I only just found out.

Any tips please?? TIA

My tip is to get in there and unashamedly tell them! I can't stand the idea of women having to say they "just found out" to keep their bosses sweet.

Women have babies. It's time some people realised!

Also, congratulations Smile

While I agree somewhat with @yorkie, there's no denying that you took the job on under false pretences. I don't blame you by the way. Had they known your condition I've no doubt they would not have given you the job. You did what you had to do for your family op but let's not pretend your employers don't have a right to feel stitched up as they will no matter what way you play this.

I would tell them you just found out, if they believe you it might soften the blow. If you annouce unashamedly that you always knew and lied by omission it might sour your relationship with them. And no one wants to work in an atmosphere.

Good luck op

I don't see how they've been stitched up when OP. is unlikely to be entitled to anything other than SMP and yes they might not have employed her which is discrimination under the equality act. If it makes you more comfortable OP tell them you've just found out, it's not uncommon.
