Cramping & Spotting - not a good sign?

I'm 4+4 with baby number 2 so very early days.

Last night I had pretty painful cramping and lower back pain. This morning when I woke up and went for a wee the tissue was pale pink when I wiped. I've been a bit crampy during the rest of the day and had a little bit of spotting.

Could this just be part of implantation? I had cramps with my first baby but no bleeding of any sort so I am worried. I am also rhesus negative and was told last time round that I needed anti-D if I had any bleeds. Not sure this constitutes as a bleed? It was very pale pink.

Any advice would be great. Downside of keeping our news quiet until the 12 week scan is that I can't discuss this with anyone.

Sounds like implantation. I had pink and brown spotting at 4 weeks which I initially thought was my period starting but when it didn’t develop further, I took a test. I also had some light pink spotting when I wiped at five weeks. The cramping is also normal, it feels as though your period is coming on at any minute for the first couple of weeks.

I wouldn’t be concerned unless you start bleeding heavily or the pain is excruciating.

I definitely had cramping at that stage with DD. Agree with above post about the bleeding.

I definitely remember the cramping last time and wasn't concerned about that alone at all. Just any sight of blood automatically worries me. Hopefully it was a one off. Thanks for your replies.

You don't need anti d that early, I had a 6 week miscarriage and didn't need it.

Thank you, I wasn't aware of that. I had been told anti-D was needed after any bleeds or miscarriages but was fortunate with my first baby that I never needed to look into this.

If you are concerned ring the midwife team, they may not be able to do anything but you can at least ask them?
