Sparkling water

I've just read a thread debating that sparkling water is as bad for you in pregnancy as too many cans of fizzy pop...

Is anyone able to clarify? I've been drinking fizzy water to get through my nausea and now I'm panicking a wee bit that I've been a bit stupid and naive!

What harm could it possibly do?? I think the pressure put on pregnant women is shameful. You end up panicking about all sorts of innocuous things and it’s insane. Please don’t worry.

I lived in sparkling water when pregnant!
Fizzy drinks are bad because they are filled with sugar and cafeen. Can't see how sparkling water is?

It was the only fluid I could keep down when I was pg! What’s the issue? Carbon dioxide dissolving bones or something?

It's fine. With regard to other fizzy drinks, sugar and caffeine levels would be the concern there. Sparkling water is fine. So far it's my only craving - I'm getting through about 4 litres a day!

Oh thank god! Jeeso! Common sense being taken over by googling? It's the worst!

So sorry for asking such an idiotic question...

Absolutely no pregnancy-based risk whatsoever. It's not great for your teeth in massive quantities but when it's all you can keep down that is academic.
