Hey everyone,
Just wanting advice, I'm 32 weeks plus 5, my baby has a semi pattern in her movements, but I have just been in for the 6th episode of reduced movements and still have no plan, everything is coming back fine ie scans and ctg and my placenta is at the back, I just want her here as I feel like something isn't right! They won't induce until 37 weeks obviously but just feel like something isn't right

I've had the same feeling since about 28 weeks.
37 weeks now and still going.
I'd rather baby out than in so I know he's safe but drs all feel it's safer he stay in until at least 39 weeks to allow lungs to develop properly.

If your doctor has any serious concerns they will get your baby out now, even though you are only 32+5. The monitor that shows the movement and heart rate, gives your doctor and midwife an awful lot more information that you might realise.

Thetimehascometo · 15/05/2018 17:51

I would agree if they were concerned they would have a more definite plan of action. I am currently at the hospital having gone in for my first set of reduced movements and due to the ctg not quite being what they wanted I’m being kept in overnight to monitor and to have scans etc in the morning.

If you’re really worried make sure you bring it up with your midwife or whoever you see if you go back in

comfycosy123 · 15/05/2018 17:56

They would take the baby out if they was concerned

I got induced early 34 and 36 weeks with mine because of complications

Keep counting your kicks and try not to worry to much they would 100 percent make a plan if needed

Thanks everyone, I had threatened pre term labour at 27 weeks so have had all the steroids etc for baby, my community midwife wants me induced at 37 weeks at the latest as she isn't happy, today her heartbeat was over 180 for about 5 mins then went down to 140 but cause she was moving while at 180 they said it was fine

I’m certainly not trying to dismiss your concerns but could your episodes of reduced movements form part of your baby’s pattern. For example mine (38 weeks today) had 4/5 busy days then a quiet one.

I understand where you are coming from though, I find monitoring movements the most terrifying thing about pregnancy.

Colonelpopcorn · 15/05/2018 17:59

Sorry x post.

Bluebirdsky · 15/05/2018 18:08

It's a good sign that the heart rate increases with movement, that's a sign of a healthy baby and one of the things that they are looking for on a CTG monitoring.

Although it's worrying and I can completely understand why you would want baby out the doctors have to use all the information they have about your pregnancy/baby to weigh up the risks of a premature birth versus the risks of leaving baby where they are for now. It sounds as if based on your scans etc. The risk of premature birth outweighs the risk of leaving them in at present but they should continue to monitor your pregnancy and react quickly to any changes in this situation.

I hope everything works out for you Thanks

I also found monitoring movement the most stressful part of pregnancy. You just want baby out safely ASAP so you know all is ok, but then once they are out any look so small and vulnerable in the very early days you think they were safer inside!

I agree with other posters that if there was a serious concern they would have taken baby out. Don’t hesitate to go back for monitoring every single time you are concerned. Don’t worry about taking up the midwives time etc.

I’m not dismissing the movement at all, but is this your first baby? If not could you be comparing to a more regularly very active baby from an earlier pregnancy.

moose234 · 15/05/2018 18:23

No it's my first baby, I am just worried as I'm strep b positive too, I feel really awkward going up every week for reduced movements

Have you had NIPT/downs screening. A friend of mine has a girl with downs. She said that she was fat less active than her other pregnancies.

When I went on mat leave & my routine changed so did DS' movements. I went to the hospital so many times saying he had hardly moved only to have him move loads once I got there. He went from a day time wriggler to a nighttime wriggler so I wound myself so much during the day. I also felt embarrassed but I would 100% go to the hospital if I wasn't sure. It's one of those things where it really is better to be safe than sorry

moose234 · 17/05/2018 13:42

Thanks everyone that replied, saw a doctor today, who has said weekly Doppler scans and fortnightly growth scans and then just to keep coming in when I have lack of movements, and then when we get to 37 weeks we shall see as to whether they induce me or not

@moose234 I have been in 8 or 9 times with it and it is terrifying - they spoke about inducing me at 37 weeks but said no need if I go in for extra monitoring. I’m now 38 weeks and baby is still fine.

Consultant said to me that likelihood is that it is an unpredictable baby but very occasionally there can be a cause of reduced movements they cannot find on the scans. Odds are very much that your baby is fine, and in the unlikely event there is a problem, it will be picked up by the monitoring you are having. I know how scary it is though so I do sympathise Flowers
