Best hospital/OB for high risk pregnancy London

I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant living in the USA but due to circumstances may have to move back immediately to London.

I am High risk due to cervical incompetence and have a cerclage, therefore having cervical length checks every 2 weeks.

I will hate to leave the hospital here as I have total faith in them having looked after my first high risk pregnancy so well. But I need to find the closest to this in London, and due to all the complications am presuming private is the way to go so in any emergency I can be seen as quick as possible. Please give any advice you have, thank you.

The Lindo Wing is private but part of St Mary's hospital in Paddington so if there is a problem with the baby after birth it can be seen there.

I was under Mr Teoh who specialises in high risk but he gets booked up very early (I went from 6 weeks as soon as I found out) so I'm not sure if he would be available. I would call and ask which consultants would see you from this stage of pregnancy.

I was referred to Fetal Medical Centre for scans and they would be able to do the cervical length checks there as well. I really recommend them, very thorough and with the best technology available as they are a research facility as well.

Best of luck to you for the rest of the pregnancy and birth

I would look at private units attached to large hospital just in case things don't go to plan e.g. Lindo wing next to st Mary's

I would recommend Kings in London, there antenatal care is second to none. I am on my second high risk pregnancy there.

You don't have to go private. Any hospital with a level 3 NICU would certainly be able to help, also the private place probably would transfer you in the case of baby being born early

Would you be eligible for nhs care? The nhs is good at the difficult stuff. I'm sure they would look after you well.

If you want private care look at a private wing in an nhs hospital. We went for the Westminster Suite at St Thomas'. We were heading for a perm delivery so wanted to be somewhere with a level 3 nicu. I saw mr Kelleher, who I thought was great, and the Head of Fetal Medicine. I'd highly recommend both of them.

Thank you everyone for all the suggestions. It’s still uncertain whether I will need to go back but it’s good to know now I have the places I can contact.

Lindo wing for me also, under Mr Setchell (Tom, his father Marcus has retired!)

Could not recommend more highly.

Oh dear heavens do not go NHS. Lindo Wing or Portland once past 30 weeks. Pat O'Brien specialises in high risk. I had a cerclage with a high risk pregnancy and he was an absolute star.

If you want to look at NHS options then Imperial (this is St. Mary's Paddington and Queen Charlottes Hammersmith), UCLH and Kings all have a good reputation for their fetal medicine/high risk care services.
