Anyone seen the perinatal mental health team during pregnancy?

I saw PMHT with DD1 but that was just for medication advice, and was quickly discharged once I received all the information I needed.
This time around I have been referred to them via my midwife since I suffered with bad PND after DD1.
I am actually seeing them in person tomorrow, but wondering any ladies who saw them, what they did / do for you? Like if they made a plan for you after birth etc?

Yes but only first time around. I have seen them prior to TTC

If it happens - I will have written my own plan of my wishes should I fall too unwell eg, I would prefer admission to a MBU. I won't be taking medication and don't want the endless pressure I faced last time. I'm aware of the risks and have made an informed decision that is right for me.

I have stated who will be caring for my DS should I become too unwell in pregnancy or shortly after

I have agreed I will see the GP once a month to discuss my MH as a precaution

Etc

I'm also aware if I fall unwell that based on how unwell I became first time round that children's service will receive a referral for both the baby and possibly my DS. The referral may or may not lead to a plan of some kind depending on how unwell I get.

@charlottexox it certainly is stress and worry constantly, the joys lolSmile thankyou!

I was referred due to antinatal depression. They were lovely and very quick to respond.

I didn't use their services in the end as I managed to see my primary care MH team quickly for some CBT which helped loads. I like knowing they're there tho and wouldn't hesitate to go back to them.

I'm higher risk for PND so am trying to make sure I know all my options whilst am feeling well!

Hi OP,

I saw the PNMHT during my second pregnancy after having PND after my first. I mainly saw a specialist midwife and I found it really helpful. She helped me to put in a plan for after the birth. I did go on to develop PND a second time BUT as I had a plan intervention happened sooner and it was less severe.

I also had a fear of childbirth after a traumatic first birth and the PNMHT were happy to support my decision for an ELCS.

Good luck OP Flowers

Yes I saw the psychiatrist who prescribed medication and the specialist midwife who discussed a plan to continue my pregnancy without admission to MBU. I asked for a c section in the end and PNMH supported that.

@Rockandrollwithit I also suffered a traumatic first birth and believe that contributed to some of my PND. If it's not too personal, what things did you put in your plan?
I've always been skeptical with the PMHT as I always wonder what way they could help me.
