Should I take my DC to private scan?

Had my dating scan a week and half ago and all was fine, NT results aren’t back yet but I’ve heard no news is good news and the measurements were fine. I’m currently 15 weeks.

Told my DC (8, 6 and 5) over the weekend and they’re over the moon. They are hugely fascinated by pregnancy and what it entails. I have an angel sounds Doppler which I’ve used so they can hear the heartbeat.

I wouldn’t take them to the anomaly scan (which is in five weeks time) but I have booked a babybond gender scan in a couple of weeks and was just wondering whether you think it’s a good idea to take them along? DP will be there too. I’m just keen on making them feel as involved as possible and think it would be a wonderful experience for them to see the scan.

I just took my DC to a private scan yesterday. And they were over the moon. They have been sharing pictures with everyone. Im fit her on at 30 weeks but im so glad they got to meet their sister. I wouldn't take them to the anomoly scan just incase god forbid you get some form of bad news but a private scan after the anomoly scan would be a lovely bonding experience

We took my dc to a private scan at 8 weeks without any issues

I’ve had private scan training and we used to fit while families in!

It’s classed as an entertainment experience so why not?

Enjoy ! Smile

Stop using the Doppler!!

I had a 20 week private scan as the NHS hospital would not allow children into the scanning room. My DD who was 2 at the time loved it and really helped her to understand what was happening. She also loved listening to the Doppler-and telling everyone that the baby says boom-boom!

Thank you for sharing your experiences Smile. I feel better about taking them now.

I don’t use the Doppler much but it’s invaluable to help with my anxiety following two MMC last year.

I work at the same place than Babybond. LOADS of parents are taking their dcs with them (and often parents, sisters/friends etc).

Really not an issue at all.

Just double check with the place you are going how big the room is. But 3 dcs wouldn’t be an issue ime.

I think the scan would be fine if you are pretty sure you won’t get bad news there. Please stop with the Doppler though, even experienced midwives don’t tend to try it until you are 16-18 weeks, you are much more likely to be hearing cord blood flow than the heartbeat before that and can mistake it even later on, everything I’ve read says not to use them at all but contact your midwife if you have any concerns regardless of being able to hear something on the Doppler.
