Toddler premonition

Ok I know I sound insane but my
Toddler has said baby is coming next week and has named the day! She’s never said anything like this. Is that mental? Someone on Facebook said her daughter did the same and baby came that actual day!!! Did this ever happen for anyone else? I know, I know, I sound crazy... a toddler can not possibly know when baby is coming but I’ve never even heard her say a day of the week before and I’m just wondering if it’s at all possible!

Anything is possible! Grin Make sure you let us know though.x

SnowGoArea · 13/05/2018 02:50

Presumably your FB friend was actually due? There's not a huge range of possible dates when birth is imminent, so the odds of being correct are pretty good, although I can imagine it feeling unnerving!

My 3 year old looked up at my me on the anniversary of my mum's death (which I had absolutely not talked about) and said "how did your mummy die?". It was rather alarming as she said it, but I don't doubt for a moment that it was anything other than a spooky coincidence.

Enjoy the end of your pregnancy as best you can and don't give it another moments worry!

ThreeAfter30 · 13/05/2018 08:34

My 4 year old told her dad&his gf that myself&my partner were having a baby and that shes getting a baby sister- 6 weeks before i found out i was pregnant lol
And yes, she is actually getting a baby sister! Lol. Im due in 11 days and my daughter has been telling everyone the babys coming on the 14th, and the other day said "mummy i think the baby will be here on monday" which funny enough is the 14th lol. Im hoping shes right cause im soooo ready for her to be born now 🙂

LadyPug · 13/05/2018 09:00

Haha yes snowgo friend was pregnant! She was only 37 weeks though and her daughter said baby will come on x day! And it did! I’m not sure those are that easy odds! I would have failed to guess it. I’ve looked online and it turns out other ppl are saying it could be a thing! I’m not overly worried about it, it’s not even due date yet but I’m fascinated by what they know that we don’t know!

I always say children have a sense about these things! Sort of like animals, they are just in tune with a different part of their brain that hasn't been taken over by everything else! It's crazy but cool!

ThreeAfter30 · 14/05/2018 07:01

Lapenguin me too!

@Ladypug Dont think its gonna happen today, i havent been feeling well since saturday, have been awake since 4am with a full on headcold, blocked nose, cough, headache, the lot. Grim. Would have no energy for labour if it happened today

LadyPug · 14/05/2018 07:47

Oh no! I hope you get better soon! Mind you, I’ve had friends get ill right before labour, sometimes it’s a thing!!!!

They do say the oddest things. Mine solemnly informed me that current baby (now 25 weeks) would be removed by the doctors with a knife. How he has any idea of that I don’t know Grin

He then followed that up with a cheery statement about seeing ghosts and toddled off to build something out of duplo. I was Hmm

LadyPug · 14/05/2018 08:00

Haha oh dear bowl goodness knows where they get it from!!!

Yep, my toddler put his hands on my stomach and told me there was a baby in there. A week later I found out I was indeed pregnant.

villageshop · 14/05/2018 17:41

I had a really weird experience years ago when the little girl next door (I think she was around 3) kept talking about when I used to be her mummy. Goodness knows what her real mum made of it (if she knew)but the little girl talked like it was real to her. I just used to draw her attention onto something else, like the birds tweeting or something but I've never forgotten it. She was a dear little girl and I can still see her clearly.

RoxytheRexy · 14/05/2018 17:43

I’m currently 7 weeks pregnant. The day I found out my 2.5 year old told me the baby would be here soon and she’s having a baby brother. And she keeps talking a lot about her baby brother. Never mentioned babies or siblings previously

SundayGirls · 14/05/2018 18:49

Eeh, I don't want to burst the bubble, but 3DCs in myself, I've realised that probably this sort of thing means nothing. 9 times out of 10 it won't happen and you'll forget it, the other 1 time out of 10 - got to be right occasionally by law of average! - it's like... amazingly predictive and maybe they're the next Mystic Meg.

The amount of times I've heard an older sibling to be confidently predict baby in Mummy's tummy is a girl and then it's a boy, or vice versa. It doesn't mean anything really. Likely your toddler has overheard you chatting about when the baby is due to various people, and it's come from that.

Squeakymoo · 14/05/2018 20:06

I think i'd have a ask if the betting shop would take a bet on the delivery date - you never know your toddler might be right - ask if they know the winning lottery number while you are at it

ThreeAfter30 · 14/05/2018 21:25

Well @LadyPug no baby today for me lol lots of pains though so ill settle for tomorrow lol (i wish!)

CoodleMoodle · 14/05/2018 21:34

My DD (then 3, now 4) said to me out of nowhere one day: "Have you got a baby in your tummy, Mummy?" to which I said no. Found out a few days later that she was right, now 31 weeks! She was also insistent (before we told her I was pregnant) that one day she would have a brother - she went on and on about having a brother and how she definitely wouldn't have a sister... and she was right about that too!

(I'm not woo at all and def don't think she knew, it was just a coincidence. It was part of the reason I decided to do a test, though! And the brother thing was a 50/50 chance obviously, but hey.)

Summerisdone · 14/05/2018 22:01

Not quite the same thing, but I've got a cousin who has often dreamt of someone in the family being pregnant, and then within a couple of weeks they find out they actually are... she is an adult, not a toddler though, but this has happened in at least 6 occasions... every time she dreams of a pregnancy it comes true, but she doesn't always dream when someone is pregnant iukwim.
So because of this I absolutely do believe in strange premonitions like your toddler's, will definitely be interesting to see if she's right, keep us updated please Smile

HippyChickMama · 14/05/2018 22:09

At 40 weeks pregnant with dd I went in to say goodnight to ds (then 6) and said "see you in the morning", he said "no, you'll see me later to wake me up to go to grandma's so you can have the baby". Sure enough, 4 hours later I was in labour and we were waking him up to take him to grandma's.

Nerdybeethoven · 14/05/2018 22:34

I babysat for my friends' 2 year old while they went out. We played games, read books, and I was just putting her to bed when her parents came home. 2 year old then said very clearly something about 'the new baby'. Turns out they had been for a scan that very evening and were coming home to tell her that she would be having a sibling. But she beat them to it. Nothing had been said, and none of the books we'd read / games we'd played had anything to do with babies. We are all gobsmacked.

Baileyscheesecake · 15/05/2018 17:13

Can you tell us what day your toddler has predicted OP? For scientific purposes of course!! Bear

LadyPug · 15/05/2018 19:08

Hehe I love all of these stories! Yes bailey she’s saying “next Thursday” 24th! She was saying “next Thursday” on Saturday but when I spoke to her yesterday she kept saying “not this Thursday, next Thursday!” Haha so we’ll see! I’ve not mentioned due date or when baby is coming or anything. In fact, I’ve told family June to get them off my back so this will be interesting!

Mine also told me I had a baby in my tummy. Very early on as well, before we’d told anyone or even talked about it in front of him. Grin he must have picked up on something.

I’m also a bit of a human pregnancy detector. I don’t think it’s anything woo, it’s probably just tiny non verbal signals people give off.

Good luck LadyPug! (Do I remember you from the HG thread?) hope the sickness is improving if so
