The title basically explains it, is this normal at this stage? I don't want to ring MAU in case they think Im over using them or being dramatic due to going twice since being pregnant (one due to a bump in the car and second for reduced movement) but since having these pains my little man hasn't moved as much either. It's just a dull period type pain but it's been there all day not in intervals or anything. Not sure if it could just be a UTI or to worry. Anyone had anything similar? X

You need to phone your maternity unit, especially for the reduced movements. They will not think you are timewasting, its always better to get it checked out!

Its probably fine, but do give them a call x

Thanks for your reply @melissasummerfield it's going off a little after my second lot of paracetamol and I just felt him change position. Would you still call and if so now or wait until the morning? X

To quote my midwife 'if in doubt, seek her out' Midwife/triage would much rather you rang to discuss any concerns with them.

KatnissMellark · 12/05/2018 21:44

Definitely call. The cost of an 'unnecessary' visit is a couple of hours of NHS time. The cost of not going in if there's a problem is much higher.

Mau always told me they absolutely don’t mind anybody going in if they are worried, that’s what they are there for, to check you and baby are ok.

sillyoldowl · 13/05/2018 07:30

Hope everything is old and pains went

jellybean218 · 13/05/2018 08:13

I waited until this morning to see if a good nights sleep helped. The dull period ache is still there, I'm going to go into work and check my urine (I work in a nursing home so have them to hand) and if it's not go up MAU, thing is work are being so funny as I sad off last week (only missed one day of work) but had sciatica and they're so funny with me about going now. Feel under pressure to stay at work otherwise I'll be in trouble 😩

You can’t get in trouble for being off due to pregnancy related illness. They can grumble but there is nothing you can do, so please don’t let that prevent you from getting checked over!

TeddyIsaHe · 13/05/2018 08:15

Nothing THEY can do sorry

lapenguin · 13/05/2018 11:55

Always best to get things checked! You can't see what's going on in there and any change in movement should be noted. Also pregnancy related absence is not counted in monitoring. Just make a note of when you were off and why, if you see a doctor/midwife or go to mau then ask for confirmation of appointment to refer back to if you are scared they will discipline you. Then you have proof if you need to take it further

Your work is not more important than your baby.
I had period type pains around that stage then some brown discharge and I had group B strep. This was picked up and treated then and baby was also monitored and I was given antibiotics in labour to prevent baby being affected (group B strep can kill newborns).
Please get checked out as just doing a urine check is not going to rule out all the different issues that can affect your baby at this stage.

LostMyBaubles · 13/05/2018 12:00

Hope you manage to get checked

My sil had period pains
Before losing big clots.
24+ hours later she had a 24weeker.
Bang on 24 weeks.
She was reluctant to go hosp at first but I told her she had to get checked. Shes glad she did!
Baby is now a bouncing child!

jellybean218 · 13/05/2018 14:42

Just an update I'm currently at my local MAU, work weren't thrilled about letting me go but just glad MAU asked me to come up and get checked out. Thanks for your advice ladies x
