Baby showers

We've been invited to a baby shower tomorrow. The parents have compiled a list of things for the baby before he/she is born, we have also been asked to contribute to eats and drinks. Am going to stick to what I believe and not take a gift until the baby is born, so taking a paperback book for the mum, flowers from the garden and a tray of home baked savouries. Am I being mean not taking a gift for the baby?

Not at all, firstly to have sent a list is just rude!! expecting people to buy a present is awful and then to throw a party but expect people to pay for that too I'm sorry is just ridiculous!

My friend is having a baby shower for baby number 2. I'm a bit Hmm about it as surely you dont get one for every baby. I will buy something though but not something massively expensive.

I'm holding a baby shower for my daughter and we don't expect anything, but close friends & family helping us celebrate. I also wouldn't expect anyone to bring food or drinks, as they're my guests 🤪

Nope you are actually nice to bother attending.

Also you only have a baby shower for your first baby as second plus babies use hand me downs from the first, and the parents know or have what they need.

Gifts for baby showers should include useful things that new parents won't know to buy - such as the best brand of nipple cream and Calpol - even if they aren't expensive.
