Should the baby be moving more?

Hi

I’m new to mumsnet, hopefully you can reassure me.

I’m 22 weeks pregnant with my second baby, would have thought I’d be more chilled out the second time around but no.
Should I be worrying about the baby’s movements yet or is it still too early? I’ve felt flutters from quite early on and then recently more actual movement but nothing that was a definite kick or anything that I could say was definitely the baby. But then yesterday afternoon she moved loads and I could actually see her moving which compared to my first pregnancy is early for me to be able to see my belly moving. Since then though there’s not really been much going on, no proper movement. It’s happened a couple of times before where she hasn’t moved for ages, to the point where I almost phoned medicom last time, but then I’ll feel something.
I’ve been out all morning but been sitting on the sofa for almost an hour and a half now, I’ve had a can of cold, fizzy drink and been poking my belly but no definite movement yet, just a couple of flutters. But then I think am I just imagining the flutters?

Sorry for the long message, hope it makes sense!

Don't worry too much! Especially if you have an anterior placenta. If you're unsure it should be in your notes somewhere. I didn't get told but I noticed it in my notes when I was looking through them the other day. I had the odd day or two around this stage where I could go almost all day without feeling much after her having a super active day the day before!

I would sit there sweating with worry in work not able to concentrate! But at this point the baby can be in a different position as they have a lot more room. I would get home and lie there prodding away and it could be hours until I felt something. And I know what you mean about not being sure if you've imagined the movements!

If you're worried than obviously get yourself checked at the hospital.

I always eventually felt something. She still has lazy days even now (I'm at 38 weeks) but at this stage I always feel something. It's just that some days she's ALOT more active than others.

Good luck with everything!

I wouldn’t worry at this stage (although I did haha). Looking back there was no need. From 28 weeks (in my area) we are advised to monitor movement.
Like *cosmoa’ baby still has quiet days and some busy days but I feel something every day. Still panic like hell though.

Thanks!

My placenta is at the top so she said when I had my scan that I’ll probably feel most of the movements lower down which I do.

That’s exactly what I thought and I read the other day that they can be in a position where they’re moving more inwards. Just can’t help but worry can you! I can’t remember feeling much movement at this stage the first time so I guess it will just be a few more weeks until she’s properly active.

Thank you for your reply, good luck to you too!
