My midwife told me at my last app to call her if I notice a reduce In movements. But she didn’t go into details of how long I should wait? I woke up at 7am and haven’t felt a single movement yet? I’m in my 3rd trimester

Is baby normally active at this point in the day?
If there is any doubt at all and I mean at all call her. They’d always rather see you than have you wait it out at home.
I’ve been sat here waiting for my 30 weeker to move this morning and I’ve felt a few bubbles but we usually aren’t very active until later so I know how you feel but also know that What I’m feeling is normal for me and baby. That’s the most important thing - your normal. If your baby is usually up and raving by now go and get listened to. Won’t take long and I bet they kick up a storm when you’re there Flowers

Give her/him a little nudge, I used to do this with mine...Baby might actually be sleeping so not that unusual. Drink something sugary and see if that gets them moving. If your instincts are still telling you to be worried then go straight to the hospital, they won’t mind and will see you straightaway :).

JugglingMummyof2 · 09/05/2018 08:52

Have a glass of juice and then lie on your right side and see if you feel anything - it worked for me when DD1 and DD2 went a bit quiet. I know it is terrifying. If you don't feel anything after 5/10 minutes then you should go and get checked.

Ididnothearthat · 09/05/2018 08:52

Drink some cold water normally wakes them up and see. If nothing i would then call midwife. They wont be annoyed theyd rather help/reassure you.

Bringonspring · 09/05/2018 08:53

Don’t wait, just head to maternity services at your hospital.

Drinking cold water use to get mine moving

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 09/05/2018 08:59

I second drinking some very cold water and giving your bump a gentle nudge. It's not unusual for baby to sleep for a couple of hours at this stage.
Call straight away if you're worried.

Muffin7 · 09/05/2018 09:16

I used to drink a glass of very cold lemonade to encourage my little boy to move. However, if you are at all worried I would ring.

Gunpowder · 09/05/2018 09:17

I’d call the midwife right now.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 09/05/2018 09:17

No call to a mw is ever wasted. Please phone her now.

Caspiana · 09/05/2018 09:19

Hi OP, I am consultant led due to recurrent reduced movements, he said to me to lie on my side and ring after a couple of hours if I am not happy. He also said I didn’t need to wait that long if I felt something wasn’t right. Please call your local triage now just to be safe. Chances are all is fine but you do need to check. Good luck Flowers

KoshaMangsho · 09/05/2018 09:22

Cold water. Lie on your side. Give your midwife a call as well. Reduced movements are never to be ignored.

LadyCassandra · 09/05/2018 09:23

I had this at the weekend. Don’t hesitate, call the mw and try and see her. I called my maternity dept (i’m In Aus) and they said come in. I was there 45 mins while they monitored me and all was fine. But they said never to wait, just call. You will only worry the longer you leave it Flowers

Bluebirdsky · 09/05/2018 09:29

My baby never moves first thing in the morning so this wouldn't be unusual for me but if it is a change in your normal pattern then you should call the hospital for advice. When did you last feel some movement?

JugglingMummyof2 · 09/05/2018 09:31

Any update OP?

zaalitje · 09/05/2018 09:35

Phone triage/ pregnancy assessment, the number will be on your notes. In the third tri midwife will refer you to them for reduced movement.
They'll likely ask you to pop in and monitor you for a half hour (two big elastic belts round bump that register baby heart beat and uterine activity). As I've been told when I've been seen for same reason, it's an easy job for them and they really stress any concerns to call in.

Flisspaps · 09/05/2018 09:51

From Kicks Count:

What shall I do if I notice reduced movement?

If you think your baby’s movements have slowed down or stopped, contact
your midwife or maternity unit immediately (it is staffed 24 hours, 7 days a
week). Do not put off calling until the next day to see what happens.
Do not worry about phoning, it is important for your doctors and midwives to
know if your baby’s movements have slowed down or stopped.
Do not use any hand-held monitors, dopplers, or phone apps to check your
baby’s heartbeat. Even if you detect a heartbeat, this does not mean your
baby is well.

JasperWithTheGoat · 09/05/2018 09:57

I remember the absolute panic I felt when ds didn't move for hours while I was at work, I rang the midwife who referred to the maternity department at the hospital after she had checked me over, they hooked me up to a machine and ds was just being a little monkey, I remember apologising over and over again and they kept saying they would rather see me and give me peace of mind than have me worrying, please call the midwife. No call to a midwife is a waste of time, please call them.

Aria2015 · 09/05/2018 09:59

Don't hesitate if it's not normal for your baby. Any change in movements should be investigated. I'm sure it's fine but always have it checked.

elderflowerandrose · 09/05/2018 10:01

I used to eat some ice-cream to wake up the baby, or a very cold icy drink and you should feel some movement hopefully.
