Is morning sickness always this bad with your third?

I escaped with just feeling a bit nausious in the morning with the other two. With this one I've felt a bit sick and very tired since I got a bfp a week before my period was due! I'm now around 6-7 weeks. On Saturday I woke up feeling worse than ever and was actually sick and since then i've been in a state of almost constantly feeling sick and the tiredness has got alot worse as well. With the other two when I felt sick eating made me better but I have lost all interest in food and barely feel like eating (the horrible strong metallic taste in my mouth is not helping) and by evening I can't eat a full meal. The other night all I had was a bowl of mushy peas followed by some strawberries because out of the contents of my cupboards that was all I fancied! I'm also so tired sometimes I feel like my legs won't work (stupid I know!). Did anybody else escape this twice and then got it full force with no.3?

You poor thing!

No experience of 3, but research suggests it does get worse with subsequent pregnancies...

DumbledoresGirl · 16/05/2007 12:35

I don't think it is relevant which pregnancy you are on. With any pregnancy you can feel sick all the time, sick a bit, or fine all the time.

I did not feel sick at all with all 4 pregnancies.....um....except for a while with my fourth when I was (briefly and unknown to me) carrying twins. When I lost the twin, the slight sick feeling I had had went.

Any chance of twins?

hop over to anyone due at new year thread and join the sickness club !

ledodgy · 16/05/2007 12:37

Oh God don't say that. There is non identical twins in my family yes but I can't even think about that if we had twins we'd need a new car and house...

i thought all pregnancies were individual... ie one can make you puke for 9 months and next doesnt bother you at all...
fwiw - i went off loads of food too. all 3 times. in fact i lost weight for the first half of each pg (and i would never dream of trying to do that, esp whil pg)

hope you feel better soon!
try peppermint tea with honey in.

ledodgy · 16/05/2007 12:43

Lilyloo I was going to but I didn't want to tempt fate I've m/c in the past and just need to get the first 12 weeks over with before I commit myself to an antenatal thread.

ive felt the same with number 3. Both girls were fairly easy on the MS side, but this time - woah - not good!

Im now 12+2 and feeling much better, so fingers crossed it wont last long for you xx

mumto3girls · 16/05/2007 12:53

I had no ms with my first two, but was in hospital for a week with hyperemesis with dd3. One of the nurses there sais it's always worst with your third...!?

I am now about 6 weekspg and have had no nausea yet...

NappiesGalore · 16/05/2007 12:54

ginger biscuits supposed to be good too. or ginger in general.

graze too... if meals are a chore just try having snacky bits and pieces about and top yurself up with little and often.

MrsBadger · 16/05/2007 12:56

...or Bottlegreen ginger cordial (v good hot or cold)
rich tea fingers worked for me too

(and am not being funny re it being worse in subsequent pgs - there's pukka research article here - they interviewed 22,000 women and discovered that morning sickness:
Was more likely the younger you were
Was more likely the more children you had
Was more likely the more previous pgs or m/cs you had
Was more likely in pregnancies with twins)

ledodgy · 16/05/2007 12:59

Thank You Mrs Badger. I like the ginger cordial and rich tea idea. It's preferable to the cumin mixed with water idea that my best friend has just told me to drink!

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 16/05/2007 13:13

JARM - I didn't know you were pg! Congratulations!

LilyLoo · 16/05/2007 13:16

know what you mean ldeg but might be worth a read as nearly all on their at min are seasick or being sick ! It does pass though. Although with my dd it came back with a vengeance at about 30 weeks onwards and i was literally sick without warning (sorry if tmi) All over myself in the car on the motorway not very nice !

numptysmummy · 16/05/2007 13:17

I had terrible sickness with ds1, moderate sickness with ds2 and atrocious sickness with ds3.

JARM · 17/05/2007 16:06

Seabands helped me loads in the early weeks - was well worth the £7.99 they cost!!!

Thanks Dances.... was a bit of a shock to the system this one, but chuffed to bits now!

Hope you are ok led x
