I'm under 80 lbs, what is pregnancy like? Not pregnant yet but I want and need to know all i can. I have sn including sensory issues and change can be a challenge especially if not prepared.

It's different for everybody and will still be different for everybody small. It's a big strain on the body, although some people feel fine throughout and some people suffer profoundly.

Do you have regular periods at that weight? Is your body able to sustain a pregnancy.

If you’re underweight I would think it’s unlikely you will get pregnant. What height are you?

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 07/05/2018 08:13

If you are short i found i suffered terribly from heartburn and my midwife said this was height related

hellokittymania · 07/05/2018 08:20

I'm 5 feet. My periods come every month and last for 7 days, but they come on a different day each month, usually between 23-27 days, occasionally more, or less. I've never weighed more than 90 lbs.

I'm 5ft, before my first pregnancy i was about 7 and a half stone.

What is your diet like?

hellokittymania · 07/05/2018 08:45

I eat quite well. I lived in vietnam for a decade so 3 proper meals plus fruit etc per day. In the uk its yogurt and fruit, pasta, rice, meat, vegetables. I like sweets but have bad tooth decay so have very little. I dont drink or smoke.

In Greece at the moment so yesterday had a soublaki and banana for breakfast, salad potatos and sausage for afternoon a nutrigrain, ice cream later on.

Thats only two meals maybe try and eat three?

hellokittymania · 07/05/2018 08:58

I can add yogurt or a pita for another meal but find food very salty here and a lot of meat. Visually impaired with other needs and still figuring out supermarkets and the kitchen so dont cook here yet. When I'm in the UK I eat 3 meals but Im still figuring Greece out

As long as you are fit and healthy, and are eating a good range of foods then you should be okay. My Mum is naturally very petite in both height and weight and she had 2 healthy pregnancies, in fact she managed to carry two very large babies (I was a 10lb baby!).

hellokittymania · 07/05/2018 09:04

Muffin i was 9 lb 4 but i was her third baby so my petite mum had put weight on by then

I’m 5 foot and usually weigh around 7 and a half stone when not pregnant.

With my DS1 I found that my bump was very heavy and ‘out there’ as I had nowhere else for it to go! This meant my bump measuring 5 weeks ahead and I ended up with SPD. I had bad heartburn too, probably because again everything was squished. Labour was very straightforward and recovery afterwards etc.

Currently 25 weeks pregnant with DS2 and my bump is looking the same, like I’ve shoved a beach ball up my top!

No reason why you can’t have straightforward pregnancies/birth when you’re small, just maybe expect to be ‘all bump’ grin]

You are at least a stone underweight, which is an awful lot given your height. Perhaps you should see a doctor before you start TTC.
