Hi,

Has anyone got any tips on how to cope with this? My sleep has been disturbed pretty from week one but it’s gone into overdrive this past week plus when I do manage to catch some sleep it’s very light or includes frequent nightmares about large spiders which jolts me awake! I’m in a bit of a pickle over this as I seem to be getting even more tired as each day passes whilst my toddler gets more energetic! Really stArting to struggle now, plus I’m concerned that when baby does arrive my sleep pattern will be so bad that I won’t actually get to sleep between night feeds etc... and that it will bring on pnd which I had with my first child.

I know insomnia can be a part of pregnancy but was hoping for some experience to help me with it plus some hope that it will clear once little one is here. Thanks in advance!

I had this with my first pregnancy- surviving on exactly 52 mins sleep a night for the last 12 weeks. Only difference was I didn't feel tired at all. It carried on while I was in hospital after having DS, the midwives were fairly concerned about it,gave me 2 temazepam pills and said they would take DS all night. They knocked me out for 2 hours then I was up again! However, within a couple of days my sleep went back to "normal" or as normal as you get with a newborn, so hopefully same will happen to you!

Thanks Thistles, that gives me some hope! I wonder what hormone is causing this? Did not have the same issue with my first DC, it’s all very odd especially the nightmares about spiders. They are freaking me out somewhat!!!

you’re me this past week. I’m 33 weeks too and I’m loosing the will to live. Nothing helps me sleep !!
Sorry not helpful I know, but you’re not alone Flowers

3 dc and got progressively worse with each pregnancy. Used read a lot or watch a bit of telly. Easier than lying there frustrated.
You will def feel better when baby arrives and be prepared for sleepless nights. You will enjoy an6 sleep you get between feeds.

Thanks for the hope ladies. I keep reminding myself that this is good practice for when the baby arrives. If I can survive on this little sleep then I should be ok for newborn sleep patterns. Let’s just hope this isn’t my body getting me ready for an awful sleeper!!! 😬

I had terrible insomnia at the end of pregnancy. I used to just get up at 3am and go to work...

I’m pregnant again (early) and already having crazy dreams. I took out a massive spider with a shot gun last night.

Try not to worry. Nap or just rest when you can. Insomnia isn’t necessarily a sign of stress.
