Are you still entitled to maternity pay if you will have only worked for your employer for 24 weeks? Getting really anxious about maternity pay

24 weeks by what point?

And there’s the link to maternity allowance too that may be useful.

I think you have to have been employed for 26 weeks by the 15th week before your due date for SMP. Your employer may offer enhanced maternity pay which would depend on your contract

Shelbylouise · 01/05/2018 11:56

Yeah I'm 24 weeks Daym so nervous

You need to speak to your employer. We won't know what's in your contract.

If you're not entitled to maternity pay you might be entitled to maternity allowance instead.

I'm confused, you've been working for them 24 weeks and are 24 weeks pregnant?

What is confusing about that??

The OP took the job and had her LMP at around the same time.

I assume that she realised she was pregnant a few weeks later.

Shelbylouise · 01/05/2018 15:14

I started 5 weeks ago and found out last week yes?

Shelbylouise · 01/05/2018 15:16

I meant ill of just missed the bracket up until the 15 weeks I'll of only been with my recent employer 24 weeks not 26

I was asking for clarification not confused about the idea...

You have answered your own question there OP.

If you only started working there 5 weeks ago, you may find that your employer finds a reason (other than your pregnancy) to dismiss you once they find out or they may not.

3stonedown · 01/05/2018 15:24

Anyway, sounds like unless your employer has a different policy you won't get maternity pay but you might be entitled to maternity allowance as a PP has said above. I know a couple of people who got maternity allowance at the same rate as SMP.

Sorry, I assumed you meant you were confused when you said "I'm confused".

Ktay · 01/05/2018 15:41

Well I'll admit to having been a tad confused too until op subsequently clarified how long she'd been working there, so I found the request for clarification helpful.

@Shelbylouise if you've been earning at least £30 a week for 13 out of the last 66 weeks you should be ok for maternity allowance although it can be a ball ache to claim. It works out similar to statutory maternity pay but you miss out on the first 6 weeks of almost full pay.

Oh thankyou it’s so stressful, can’t be dealing with it😫
