BPM - 120 - should I be concerned?

I got a new phone recently, which has a sensor allowing you to record BPM. I'm usually somewhere between 75 and 90 (which is apparently okay for a pregnant lady).

Just parked up for work and felt - off - a bit giddy. Not really sure how to describe it. I tested my BPM - 121.

Walked the less than five minutes to the office and sat down. Just measured again, twice for good measure. 117 and 120.

Is this something I should be worried about?

I'm 21 weeks + 4 today.

I've had high BMP on several occasions when I've had my BP taken and no one has ever commented on it. I'd also say your phone is probably not that reliable.

True - i'm just using it as a comparison. As the other measurements are from my phone - so while the numbers may not be 100%, they are showing a much higher than normal trend. Last blood pressure test with a midwife my BPM was 90.

I wear a fitbit and my heartrate often goes over 100 when I don't feel like I'm doing anything! My midwife said I couldn't do any prolonged exercise where my heartrate went over 140. As long as you feel ok in yourself (not constantly dizzy for example) and aren't short of breath I think you probably have nothing to worry about.

Thanks @TinyTerror1 - it seems to be gradually coming down, but I still feel a bit giddy/ lightheaded. I'll see how I feel over the next hour and call my midwife if I'm still feeling unwell.

I have heart arrhythmia and have SVT NST and ectopic beats. What you're describing sounds like an episode of NST to me. I also have the heart app that you're talking about and I also have a pulse oximeter (I'm a nurse) and the app is pretty accurate. Non sustained sinus tachycardia is an arrhythmia that is benign. It flares up occasionally and causes rapid heart-rate and a feeling of adrenaline and/or anxiety. Quite often it ends abruptly or can come down gradually but it will come down without the need for medical intervention. Your heart remains in sinus rhythm throughout, so essentially it's harmless although uncomfortable and can be frightening if it comes on suddenly. Mine wakes me from sleep sometimes.. so annoying! SVT produces a higher PR and sometimes requires medical intervention. I think pregnancy can trigger arrhythmia. Although you'll be fine, definitely mention it to your MW/GP especially if it's a new occurrence x

Thanks @Gemsie1984 - yes new occurrence. It did come down over the hour but it felt really weird when it came on - and yeah I did suddenly feel like I had a rush of Adrenalin. I'll make sure I mention it. When I was a kid (10) they thought I might have a heart murmur but although I would occasionally get blue lips and look faint, whenever they did an ECG or a US everything looked good. I wonder if it might be the same thing?

I would say it was an episode of arrhythmia rather than anything structurally wrong with your heart, and they're commonly triggered by pregnancy. If you have another episode that's accompanied by dizziness or pain then go to ER, otherwise just mention it at your next appointment. I completely empathise they leave you feeling washed out and yuck.
