After I had my baby, the midwives, doctors and health visitors told me how super fertile I’d be, and stressed the importance of contraception.

And it got me thinking, is this true! 🤔

So, how many of you, got pregnant naturally, either planned or unplanned within 12 months of giving birth.

To clarify, I’m not pregnant, just curious. 🙂

Thank you CC. I then conceived twins but lost one too so it's been a bit of a time.

A neighbour had her second child before her first turned one. No idea if planned!

I wish I'd been able to have mine closer together tbh.

SmallestInTheClass · 29/04/2018 20:39

Not me, but know two people who did.

CuriousCatty · 29/04/2018 20:41

Sounds like you've certainly had a rough time of it @YearOfYouRemember

My DH and I are possibly considering another in the next year or so, but DD is only 4 months, so we'll see what happens!

Got pregnant when DD1 was 9 months old, I was breastfeeding still and had only had unprotected sex once. DD2 is 13 weeks Grin

My MIL had 3 in 3 years, they were all bigguns too - frankly, I'm surprised she has any energy lift at all, but she's awesome - a fantastic woman.

GruffaloPants · 29/04/2018 21:10

We haven't used contraception since DD2 was born nearly 2 years ago. At it pretty regularly (2-5 times per week). Still breastfeeding, so that may be having an influence. Oh, and I'm getting on a bit.

Just to balance out all the scare stories!

GummyGoddess · 29/04/2018 21:16

The breastfeeding as contraception is a myth, at least for me. Will be 19 months between dc when dc2 appears shortly, was breastfeeding and took levonelle, still pregnant! PSA to go for Ella One.

I wanted another anyway, so not a disaster but very embarrassing to return to work already 3 months gone with a sizeable bump.

A woman I was on a postnatal ward with had a 13-month-old at home, and newborn twins.

TriJo · 29/04/2018 21:32

Had a whoops 9 months after my DS1 was born, early loss though. Conceived again 4 months later and we have a 22 month gap between DS1 and DS2.

toasterstrudle · 29/04/2018 21:40

Conceived 5 months after DS, chemical pregnancy. Then conceived the next month but sadly that ended in a mmc at the 12 week scan. Guessing it's just my body's way of letting me know it's not ready, although I would have loved babies close together (I was one of 3 under 3 and loved growing up so close!)

CuriousCatty · 29/04/2018 22:08

Thank you all for sharing your stories. I'm not 100% convinced that this so called super fertility exists, as it could just be normal fertility returning after giving birth. But personally, I think it's lovely to have a sibling with a small age gap. Smile

Friend of mine did, and it took her 3 years to conceive dc1. Hehe.

GummyGoddess · 30/04/2018 09:49

@CuriousCatty could be normal fertility returning, I got a positive test 11 days after we started trying for dc1! DH probably won't come near me again for fear of ending up as a father of 10 Grin

Liz3891 · 30/04/2018 09:54

My friend got pregnant when her 1st was 9 months. She was breastfeeding and her periods hadn't come back yet so she was very surprised.

ShakeVigorously · 30/04/2018 13:03

I did!
I lost twins at 23 weeks and got pregnant again 7 weeks later with no period in between Shock now 32 weeks pregnant!

Bibijayne · 30/04/2018 13:56

My mum was keen to stress that 'You can get pregnant when breastfeeding!' a while back... but then there's only 18 months between my sister and I and 15 months between my sister and my brother. No planning was involved!
