Hi MN!

Had a growth scan at 36w and my little diva's growth has significantly dropped.
My BP is also borderline preeclampsia so the docs have booked me in for induction at 37w....

At the time I was so fine and calm but after coming home, I can't help but feel on edge and nervous.

I'm aware of the process and what will be happening but as its an early induction, I'd love to hear some experiences and tips/tricks to help on the day.

I know it's going to hurt... I know to expect it to be a long process but just need positive vibes Star

Thanks in advance!

I was induced at 37 weeks with my 1st and will be again in June. It wasn't as bad as I'd read! Went in on the Saturday morning and dd was here by Sunday evening. We walked up and down the hospital corridor most if the day so not sure if that helped speed things up. Just make sure you bring lots of snacks and have a few films to watch/books to read! Good luck!

Hello - I was induced last week so it's very recent ! It was my second time being induced.

You will receive excellent care the whole way through, they inform you every step of the way. Midwives I've found are pretty much all lovely and very competent.

My birth plan was basically to have an epidural as soon as possible! I don't like pain and you don't have to suffer with an epidural (they are bliss). I believe the pain is bad being induced as the labour is "forced" and your pain receptors are not therefore working naturally and there is a lag.

Sometimes the aneastitist can take ages (2.5hours) I really wished I had asked for the epidural much earlier as supposed to when I felt the pain!

Last tip, if you are Worried ask for the doctor as you can go above the midwives if you are not happy about something. Don't be afraid to ask.

Stitches -- if you need them - ask for the best person to stitch. It's important this is done really really well as it can cause major issues for the woman.

With me, the girl about to stitch me looked a bit inexperienced for me and I just decided to take the plunge and asked her nicely "are you the best person to stitch me in your opinion?"
She hesitated and said I'm pretty good, but went and got someone else. That person also got the consultant for his opinion on one of my tears. All because I put them a bit under the microscope. This is my
Best tip I can give you to be honest!

Bring ear plugs which I forgot for if you have a night in the ward pre-baby as lots of people chat all
Bloody night with their husbands!!!

Good luck, you
Are in good hands xx

I was induced at 36+5 with DS due to high blood pressure and a couple of other things. Pressary didn't work so I was put on the hormone drip. Contractions started soon after as they also managed to break my waters whilst putting me on the drip. 10 hour labour once contractions started, definitely recommend the epidural if having the drip. DS born at 37 weeks on the dot with no problems.

Definitely expect to be in there for a while, good luck OP!

I had a failed induction ending in c-section but it was all fine and I found the midwives so lovely all the way through.
Just remember you don't get a medal for not using any pain relief. I felt like such a failure for asking for an epidural ...until it happened then it was absolute bliss! I would ask for one much sooner next time round!
