Unexpectedly pregnant with number three

I'm a mum of two, DS is just 5, DD is 2.5. No plans for more, really content with how life is, 3 bedroom house, work/life balance, holidays with just the two, 99.9% sure no more for us. Two weeks ago DTD, using condom but it came off as he..., so adamant of not taking the risk I took the morning after pill (at £25!!!!) the next day within 12 hours, fast forward 2 weeks and here I am, sat on the train, on the way to my best friend's hen and as I was a day late I took a test this morning as knew I'd be drinking a lot this weekend and it was a big fat pink line!! Shock I'm in a bit of shock. I'm first and foremost a mum so finding this hard with mixed emotions as it wasn't planned and I'm really struggling to see any positives for us, but at the same time I still have that instant feeling of 'must protect' and know any alternative isn't an option. Has anyone else been in this position? Had two then had a third unplanned? What positives made you come around and feel excited by the idea? I know we are so lucky to be able to get pregnant this easily but that feeling isn't enough to pull me through the thought of going back to nappies, no sleep, no social life for at least 2 years.... plus the last couple of months I've sold the cot/sleepyhead and Tula carrier plus almost all the clothes both maternity and baby! Thank you for listening!!

My third was unplanned. I had a 19 month old and 5 month old already and we only wanted the two. Contraceptive failure meant I found myself pregnant and devastated. I booked myself in for a termination but couldn’t bring myself to go through with it. She will be six in August and is lovely!

It’s completely your decision to make, just make sure it is right for you Flowers.

I’m currently pg with a planned third. If it’s any comfort, mine will share rooms for a bit - we have a four bed house but the layout is weird and fourth bedroom is too far from the others for anyone to use it until the eldest child is a bit older. We struggle to get 5yo DD and 4 yo DS to stay out of each other’s bedrooms anyway, so don’t think they’d mind sharing! Got lots of cute pics of them having sneaky sleepovers in each other’s beds.

DS was an unplanned pg when DD was 6months old, so I do know about the shock of an unexpected baby. I worried I had ruined DDs life, but it was the best thing ever, they always have a friend and they love each other so much. They are both excited about DC3.And I’m secretly jealous of those who got pg with twins for their third, I’ve kept the two cots, double buggy etc and would have loved two babies at once again. Don’t think DH would choose a fourth though.

Hope you’re doing okay OP.

Thank you for asking @Scarydinosaurs . I'm ok, still in denial. Not bothered to call dr yet, just waiting it out a few weeks in case anything goes wrong-previously miscarried starting at 6 weeks. Feeling very philosophical that every step so far has been down to fate, Maybe then I'll start thinking that this is actually happening!

As one of three I think 3 is a great number to have! We are currently 30 weeks with number 1, DH is an only child and thinks 1 will be enough..., he is wrong, I’ll push him for 2 and we will then see where we are.

As kids growing up my brothers shared a room, and it never harmed them... other than the odd fall out. My youngest brother was unplanned, but Mum wishes she had more happy accidents, yes money was tight but we were happy 😊 (and fitted in a 5 seater car)

Wishing you all the luck. As hard as it is at the start, everything does get easier.
