I'm 13 weeks pregnant and today had 2 people who have been told that I'm pregnant approach me and say "are you sure it's not twins?"
"You're massive."
"If you're like this at 13 weeks imagine what you'll be like at 30!"
I'm just a little bit fat, actually.
When did it become ok for people to comment on my weight or size?? Is that ok now? Is that the done thing!! Is this what I have to put up with for the next 6 months? Someone may end up punched if i do!
Anyone else had this??

Just say nope, one baby and the rest is cake.
You need to get tough before dc is born, then you will really be dealing with it... Oooo isn't he /she chubby, skinny, loud, smelly, bald, hairy..
Every fecker and their granny will have something to say.

Smile, ignore, move on..

Unfortunately it will carry on! I am 28+3 and constantly get people asking if its twins/referring to me as fatty/saying how big I will be by my due date... I must admit, I never thought it would bother me but it really does!
I am just learning to ignore it now!

Death stare everytime whilst saying "Did you mean to be so rude or we're you just raised that way" works for me everytime Grin

I haven't had any twins comments but I've found it's generally men who say the inappropriate things. My SFIL's welcome to me a few weeks ago was not a hello how are you but a "WOAH someone's starting to show!". My mum's partner was the same at the weekend saying "OMG it's growing" (obviously).

My female colleague was very tactful when she commented saying she could tell my figure was changing. :)

I have twins. When I was pregnant strangers would say “are you sure it’s not twins Love” and then look so disappointed and annoyed when I said “Yes, it is twins”

On the basis of that reaction I came to the conclusion that people do mostly say it to be rude.

Yep, pretty sure people just do it to be dicks!
I am actually having twins and people that know still love telling me how fat I am and all things considered I’m not too big yet. I’m hardly eating due to HG. This week my neighbour told me I’m getting a fat face. She’s also a dick.

Until about 20 weeks all I heard was, "are you SURE you're pregnant? You don't LOOK pregnant!" I actually got paranoid that something was wrong and the baby wasn't growing (he was fine). Then bump popped at about 25 weeks from which point all I heard was, "my god you're huge! Is it twins?" and a couple of times had arguments with people who would not believe my due date was correct and were adamant DS would be born early (he was 4 days late). Just ignore!

Opinions are like arseholes, especially when you're pregnant.

I was pregnant at the same time as another woman at work and got 'you're not as big as x' constantly. X was due before me, not as tall as me, and (though I wouldn't ever say it out loud) heavier than me to start with. I had HG so was glad my bump measured 'average' because I would have been worrying otherwise.

I used to point out the first one and say 'and we're all different' in the hope they might not feel the need to repeat their observation to x.

Wait til they start trying to touch your bump, I didn't get it a lot (I'm not an approachable type), but I've heard it's rife, perfect your death stare now.

ScaryMary81 · 27/04/2018 16:34

I'd say no it's triplets actually Grin

GreenMeerkat · 27/04/2018 16:48

I hate this. People have commented on my size in all of my pregnancies and I find it so rude. One woman actually looked me up and down and said 'well, you're big aren't you?' When I told her I was 24 weeks. So rude.

I am only 5ft 1 and get pretty large when pregnant and have had decent sized babies both times so being so short makes me look even bigger. In fact, I actually look almost comical towards the end, like a bowling ball with legs. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean people can automatically comment on my size. They wouldn't say to someone overweight 'well, you're fat aren't you?' So I don't see how it's acceptable when pregnant!!

Ski40 · 27/04/2018 16:55

Grrrrr I hear you OP....
I got that with all of mine. I am only 5'2" with a very short abdomen, which was so obvious but seemed to escape people who would drawl the "twins" crap at me like they'd just invented the bloody line.😡
Once I actually snapped at someone who was particularly offensive about it and I just let rip. WELL I HAVE JUST A FEW INCHES BETWEEN MY TITS AND MY HIPS! SO AM I SUPPOSED TO STUFF MY BABY, THE PLACENTA AND MY BLOODY POLIHYDRAMNIOS IN MY F... BACK POCKET???
They were mortified. Boy it felt good... 😁

God, I’ve had this from loads of people. My brother said “you look like you’ve swallowed a planet” (I was 17 weeks then, tiny bump), and my colleague said “oh you’re going to get so massive!” My new favourite response is to look pointedly back at them and say “well, I am pregnant... what’s YOUR excuse?”
