White water tubing at 4 weeks

We've been trying for a baby and currently in the middle of the tww. I will be able to test at the start of next week.

On Weds next week we have our annual corporate away day. A few months ago when they were asking about activities, I signed up for white water tubing - like white water rafting but on one of the big rubber inflatable rings.

If pregnant, I would be about 4 weeks. Would it be ok to do? Changing to one of the other activities at this point would require some kind of explanation, which I could give and know my boss wouldn't tell anyone, but it's a small firm and people would be asking why I've changed. Plus I was looking forward to it! I don't want to do anything risky, but it would be very early on.

What sayeth you?

I think it'd be fine. I wouldn't stop doing things whilst TTC, if it takes a while you'll go mad! Also if you're pregnant, at 4 weeks the embryo will be so so tiny and tucked deep in your pelvis under your pubic bone, so totally protected.

Thanks, that's what dh said to me :)

You need to check the company’s policy. They almost certainly won’t be insured for pregnant women to go on the activity, but equally many women don’t know they’re pregnant at four weeks gestation.

At four weeks a pregnancy will be a tiny blob of cells buried in your uterus wall. Do things liks this now before you are too tired/queasy/huge!

But nonetheless one that I expect OP would be devastated to lose.

Speak to your employer OP. It's very unlikely you'd be covered by their insurance should something go wrong.

I’m sure it would be completely fine, but I still wouldn’t do it if I knew I was pregnant. If I was in the tww I’d do it because you don’t know.

tbh this is my worry. I've got two kids so I've been through pg before, and to be honest I think I probably am pg as I'm getting all the same stuff I had the last two times. My concern is that if I lost it, even if in reality unrelated to the white water tubing, I'd always wonder if it was because of it.

If I told them I was pg I am pretty certain they wouldn't let me go. Think I will take a test on mon/tues, and probably try and downgrade to a lesser activity if I am. And then tell everyone else I've wimped out, or hurt my ankle, or something.

This really isn't how miscarriages happen. Miscarriages this early are overwhelmingly due to a chromosomally non-viable embryo - which is normally random chance - not anything the woman does.
