Growth scan? Worth it?

I’m 36 weeks and I’ve been told I’ve been booked in for a growth scan, because my boys were 9lb11oz and 9lb11.5oz... but my labour and deliveries were without issues and I’ve never had any issues in pregnancies. I’d rather not have the scan, but is there any reason I should?

I don’t see a point personally, but am I missing something? When I asked I was just told it was because I had big babies previously and no other explanation given Hmm

My last baby was 9lb 11oz and I'm booked in for a growth scan at 36weeks. I'm told its because babies generally get bigger so my next could be over 10lbs. It's not definite of course which is why there checking.

For me my having dd did some damage to my lady parts, incontinence for the best part of a year. It's improved with time but I don't want to risk being permanently damaged by an even bigger baby this time. If the growth scan shows another big baby the doctors have agreed to induce me a week early.

I would say go for the scan and you can decide what you want to do when you have all the information. There's certainly no harm in having it.

I had 4 growth scans in my pregnancy. At 35 everyone was freaking out because ds was measuring 8lb 3oz. He was born 4 weeks later weighing 8lb 3oz.
If you have the scan, just be aware that they aren’t accurate. I ended up having an emergency c section after being induced a week early because the baby was “so big” I probably could have gone naturally

Thanks for the replies.

@Poptart4 my recovery after my births (especially my second) were very quick and I was fortunate, and I really don’t want to be induced early. I’ve told them this but they want to do the scan anyway. I understand birthing Big babies is more difficult but I just feel as though I trust my body to be able to do it and I really don’t want to go into labour fearful

@cakesandphotos I’m so sorry this happened, and this is my worry also! I’ve heard that they are notoriously unreliable. I think I’ll just cancel it
