Freaking out about my c-section and having DS1

I’m due to have my ELCS on 7th June and am impatient to see my baby - I am getting nervous and I excited but am currently dealing with gestational diabetes which is tainting the last few weeks of my pregnancy a bit.

I’m also freaking out a bit about the lack of sleep that comes with a newborn, plus the recovery from the op etc. It’s been 7 years since I had my DD and the baby days seem a long time ago! Please reassure me that I be able to cope with another baby... plus doing the school run etc and being organised at home...

Any tips for dealing with some of my anxieties? Sad

Well recovery varies but once I was home I was so much better then in hosp never had a elected one but had an emergency and my sisters have had elective and they said it was really calm but just strange to be laying there feel a bit of tugging but no pain and then suddenly a baby was there !
You will be fine x x x x x x

Having a larger age gap than average between them may help you a lot although you may need to prepare your DD for the change as she has had 7 years of undivided attention. My DD had an ELCS last week for her DD2 and is doing well and all those I have spoken to regarding CS have said they recovered pretty well so hopefully you will too.

I would just take each day as it comes and enjoy your baby when he arrives. Stock up with meals, have GPs on standby and speak to your DH or DP as to how he can support you. The newborn stage is over relatively quickly so I am sure if you are willing to let the unimportant things slide and have some support you will be fine. I am sure it will all come back to you.

Thank you Pickledgerkinsareathing (love your username!) - I know things will be ok, I think I’m just a bit overwhelmed with how quickly the pregnancy has gone by and how I will be having another actual baby very soon! 😂

I’m going to try and do one of those ‘live’ c-section / birth threads when the time comes as I am going to be so excited that I will simply have to share it with random strangers on the internet!!Wink

Thank you too Cornishclio - yes, hopefully 7 years’ and gap will stand me in good stead for when I need a little help with baby!
