I have been booked for my whooping cough jab at 28 weeks, think this is fairly normal. I am also FTM.

Yeah that's what nurse said just found it a little strange that's all 😂 i thought you could get it as soon as your 20 weeks without scan. Was rushing around to get to doctors thinking I'll be late😂 oh well good exercise for me

I saw the midwife for my 16 week app last week and she said to book it in ASAP as can have any time from 16 weeks! Strange!

When I saw a GP once (about something else) he told me I couldn't have it until I was like 24 or 28 weeks pregnant which is not correct Confused. I didn't end up having it until I was 31 weeks because then I almost forgot about it.

NHS site says to get it ideally between 16 weeks and 32 weeks. I had mine at 17 weeks.
Sounds like the person you spoke to had their wires crossed!

I'm in Australia so don't know whether there's a difference in midwifery care to other countries but we're told to get it from about 30wks onwards (if I recall correctly).. but I've never had it before 30wks.

MeadowHay It was given from 28 weeks from its introduction in 2015 until 2017, then it was brought forwards to 'from 16 weeks' but local protocol varies.

Our local protocol (I'm a practice nurse) is not to refuse after 16 weeks if a woman has made an appointment, but to advised after the 20 week scan where able.

Hold up when this first came out it was to pass immunity to the baby so was given as close as was safe to due date.

I should think they introduced it for late term to reassure people because less developmental damage can be done, then when they'd 'normalised' it they brought it forward. Damage now easier to fudge in the figures because it can't be traced back to 'the introduction of the vaccine'.

I had my 20 week scan, then had to wait half an hour and was given my jab at the hospital by a midwife. The manufacturer, batch number and expiry date of the vaccination was written in my notes.

I was told at my booking appointment and then this was repeated by the consultant when to get things done plus some of the mechanics of how.

I suggest if your midwife isn't telling you the mechanics of who to contact for specific things you ask them, and if you forget to ask the receptionist.
