We have had extra scans and have vasa praevia. This means likely that we will have to take steroids to build baby up and a c - section at around 35 weeks. Obviously this is upsetting as if we don’t do this and go into labour baby could die and I can’t be more than 20minutes from hospital. due to this I will probably have to give up work sooner rather than later as planned. Currently 29 weeks and I have no one in the same position.... anyone had similar? Any positive stories? Will baby recover properly from such an early delivery? Feel very much the failure for not being able to protect my baby...

I am going to update in case this helps anyone in future. I am now at 31 weeks got myself signed off by the doctor as the consultant felt it was safe for me to work up until 35 weeks and it would help me to ‘act normally’ if I have a problem or any Braxton Hics etc to call an ambulance straight away. Doctor agreed it was just completely unrealistic to expect this. I was given an appointment to plan my care for 35 weeks. Had to battle to change this to 33 weeks as I was told would need to have c-section between 35-37 weeks. So it would be too late. I am having to push to get my steroid injections as consultant didn’t know I hadn’t had them or when was best to get them. The green paper advice discussed above does not reflect the care given to me. I am having biweekly Doppler/growth scans and biweekly transvaginal scans but upon reading my consultant notes have discovered that these should be weekly. I have now resorted to emailing the lead consultant as I am getting so concerned about the lack of responsibility anyone will take for my care. There is no communication between appointments and it’s a part time job just taking care of medical appointments and then having to rearrange items because they are clearly inappropriate (ie arranged for after baby is born). My midwife is useless so no help there. So.... hoping I hear back from the lead consultant.

Sorry to hear about the difficulties you are having with your care. I'm glad that your GP is supportive at least. Hope everything goes well for you over the next few weeks x
