Anyone measured big bump-wise and gone on to have a smaller baby?

My baby is predicting to measure well over 10lbs if it carries on on the same trajectory over the next few weeks.

I’m hoping it’s just my own weight gain and not actually a massive baby....

I know the bump measurement isn’t necessarily accurate - has anyone had off-the-scale bump measurement and gone on to have a smaller than predicted baby?!

I was measuring about 2 weeks ahead, and estimated to have a baby of 9lbs or so.
He was 7lbs13 and had been housed in approximately 2 Olympic sized swimming pools worth of water inside me.

He was also awkwardly positioned (transverse and oblique breech depending on his mood) which contributed to the big bump. Bit it was mostly the water and cake

I was given growth scans every 4 weeks due to predicted 10lb'er, and had GTT test also for this reason, with induction at 39+1 - I am 5'4" and size 10-12. DC was 6lb 14oz! And that was with scans which are supposedly more accurate than bump measurement. In all honesty l don't think there is any science to it, nature will run it's course - good luck when the time comes x

I was told that I was having a very small baby, in fact the registrar was very concerned that something was very wrong. He was 7lb 9 oz, fed really well and gained weight really quickly. You just can't tell.

My bump measured big, above the top line. Had regular growth scans that measured just below the 50th centile consistently. Baby was 6lb born at 38 weeks (and they had spent weeks terrifying me that baby was going to be huge, they were going to have to induce early and so on) and on the 9th centile. My fluid levels were normal, I think I was big for two reasons, I had a bit of middle fat to start with and I'm short so nowhere other than out for baby to go.

Oysterbabe · 24/04/2018 20:42

Yep. It was because I'm an apple shape and all my fat goes round my middle, threw the measurements out.

Shiraznowplease · 24/04/2018 20:47

I was the opposite, small for date and a 9lber

NorbertTheDragon · 24/04/2018 21:18

Yes, measured for my youngest as big. (Not worryingly huge though) He was born at 38 weeks weighing 5lb 4oz.

My friend was told she was measuring small all through her pregnancy, he was 8lb 14 oz.

Ds was predicted to be over 9lbs but he was 7lb5 at 2 weeks overdue.

I measured on track throughout my last pg. Everyone kept commenting that I had a huuuuge bump. DD was 5 pounds 12 (2600g) or really near to the IUGR mark. Bump means nothing!

TellerTuesday4EVA · 25/04/2018 07:01

I honestly think the measuring system /method that they use is outdated. DD was apparently measuring at 9lb 6oz at 36 weeks, she was born at 37 weeks weighing 7lb 4oz I think my bump was 10% baby & 90% water tbh

lampert · 25/04/2018 07:43

That’s such a relief. I’ve put on far too much weight and there’s s definite squishy fat cushion over my bump so I’m sure that’s what’s making my bump big, but the chart thingy makes it look like the baby will be enormous Blush
