Travel and morning sickness

I live up north, frequently have to travel down south and back in a day for work. I have quite bad nausea and sickness so wondering if there's anything I can take that will help which is pregnancy friendly or if I need to tell my employer that I'm struggling? I do suffer with travel sickness anyway and these virgin trains don't help 🙈

Have you been given any anti sickness tablets by your GP? X

Lilly1207 · 24/04/2018 08:32

No I usually use over the counter ones. Haven't ever thought of mentioning it to my gp 🙈 x

Those virgin trains are awful! I feel sick on those at the best of times!
Any medication would need to be prescribed by your GP as most of it isn't licensed for pregnancy. You could also try wearing the acupuncture travel sickness bands on your wrists; I did feel that they helped me.
I ultimately ended up having to have a couple weeks off and working from home as nothing, including medication, made me feel well enough to be able to cope with traveling but worth trying first in case they help you.

I had awful morning sickness at the start of my pregnancy and got prescribed anti sickness from my GP. I'd advise you to do the same, it does help ease it! Be careful travelling if you feel so sick though x

This is the first time I've travelled down since being pregnant so haven't had any tablets or anything. Couldn't feel any worse. I have my booking appt with the midwife next week so will mention it to her too xx

Promethazine is what I took. It's used as both an anti-sickness tablet for morning sickness and for travel sickness

It is available over the counter but can also be prescribed by your GP. It's perfectly safe during pregnancy and it helped me a lot

Also totally agree to get the meds from GP! Would they let you work from home at all?

EJWx · 24/04/2018 21:46

I totally feel for you! I'm currently 9 weeks and these couple of weeks had the most horrendous nausea! I went to the GP and got some cyclizine prescribed as well as buying the travel bands and it seems to, (fingers crossed) have worked a treat!
Xx

I could work from home some of the time, I tend to be able to do that however I do need to visit the people that I work with by law which makes it impossible to not travel. I definitely need to speak to my gp and get something prescribed xx
