Hey, FTM here. Baby boy due 16th May, last checkup was a week ago and midwife said he was about 1/5th engaged - everything normal and fine. I haven't felt him moving much today, gradual decrease in movements over the last few days I've noticed. Just been sitting down for a while now and I've started to feel pretty achy and uncomfortable low down.

Also- yesterday was moving a lot of stuff around / carrying things as I'm in the process of moving house.

Just wondering what any of you more experienced mums think?

Thanks Smile

He could be sleeping but any change in movements should be checked.

I'd give your midwife a call....or the number in your notes for out of hours. They'll probably tell you to do drink a really cold drink and lie on your left side so do that too. Make sure you tell them how long it's been like this for and that you overdid it yesterday.

Write down any movements you feel so that you can easily tell them and compare.

I'm sure everything will be fine but it's important to call.

As Maverick said please call your midwife. Better to be safe than sorry, they will check you out and listen to baby's heart etc.

Call your day assessment unit. Likelihood everything ok but never leave it to chance! Hope everything ok

Call your midwife, especially if you haven’t felt him today.

Call the midwife hotline Hun... you can't take any chances at this stage. Don't want to panic you and am sure everything fine but just to be safe, they will probably ask you to come in and you will go on a heartbeat and movement monitor for half an hour. Hope everything ok, let us know ThanksThanks

Any change/decrease in movements should be reported. Our unit always says to lie down on left side with an ice cold drink for half an hour so it's worth doing that too, but I would definitely ring maternity unit and tell them about the decrease in movements.

Pickledgerkingsareathing · 23/04/2018 22:08

Not to alarm you atall
But
ANY reduce in movements from 24 weeks onwards or when you felt regular movements means a call to delivery suite ! Please please call x x x
I had this and my baby was fine just for reassurance but sometimes it can be a cause for concern especially this late x

Any change in baby's movements need to be checked out.

Hi OP,

I agree with everyone else that you should ring the midwife, although I'm sure everything will be fine. Best to err on the side of caution.

For future, drinking a very cold glass of water, then lying down and waiting to see if you feel any movement often gets the baby moving so worth doing that when you first realise you haven't felt movement for a while.

Happyland8 · 23/04/2018 22:16

Sorry, I realise someone else has suggested the cold drink.
