Elcs v induction at 39 weeks

Could someone please point me in the direction of some stats for ELCS v induction?
Consultant was very blàze yesterday (different consultant to normal) who was very much pushing induction v ELCS. I'll need to deliver between 38 and 39 weeks.
Two previous consultants and midwife have been fine with my preference for an ELCS rather than induction with a 30-40% chance of EMCS.

He told me that neonatal mortality rates and birth injury (both mum and baby) are far lower with induction. Even when looking at just elective stats (removing EMCS data).
Also was told that there was no link to prolapse and issues with incontinence were minimal ("do your pelvic floor exercises and you won't have a problem!"🤔)

Having been through a failed induction last time (at 40 weeks) that ended in csec, I’d say go for ELCS. So much easier to plan and enjoy the experience. Recovery was really plain sailing.

I was just chatting this morning with 3 friends who had vaginal deliveries. All 3 were straightforward births and now have issues (buying tena lady, doing lots of internal physio etc). Really glad I avoided all of that. Good luck OP!

P.s. I love that the new male consultant is so sure about the awesomeness of pelvic exercises being the perfect solution 😂

Your body. Your choice. Remember the consultant will also be thinking about the cost of the procedure (which is totally unfair).

He can't make you consent to an induction. So just say no. I agree with the poster above - very easy for a male consultant to just dismiss concerns about tears etc. Nice convenient way of blaming women for birth injury...you didn't do your pelvic floor exercises....hmmm
