To wax or not to wax?

I'm due to give birth this week.
I wasn’t going to bother but then I realised that in the event of a tear and just for general cleanliness it might be easier bare.
What do you all think?

The NHS actually recommend not waxing or shaving. It can lead to rashes and raw skin which can cause infection.

No, it is not easier bare - actually the contrary:

a) waxing inherently means minor tears, which is route for infection
b) you may well be more sensitive to the waxing progress during QQPG, and impending labour is seriously not the time to have an angry undercarriage

And also if hair can be seen, it might make stitching a bit easier for the practitioner (can more easily see what belongs int eh outside IYSWIM)

Yes, I'm of the generation who campaigned vigorously against the compulsory routine depilation of women for childbirth, which is why I still have the evidence-based downsides at my fingertips.

Even if you wax regularly, it's still better to stop as childbirth becomes imminent. Though if you are having a planned CSec, or you have a razor handy when need for CSec emerges, it's worth removing hair from any area where they might stick a drseparate swing (just as it is for any surgery)

Don’t wax. It rips of skin as well as wax leaving you open to infections. If you do test it will be the vaginal opening which doesn’t have hair around it anyway.

Agree with others.

Don't wax, get your man to trim you with scissors if you have enough hair down there - infection just isn't fun down there.

Do not Veet/Nair/epliate either.

Good luck mama

I have a leaflet from the hospital saying you shouldn’t wax in the last 6 weeks of pregnancy.

If you were going to do it, the time would have been a few weeks ago. No way should you do it this close to your birth, for all of the reasons stated by PP.
