I'm starting to stock up on nappies for when baby arrives and I'm wondering how many packs do you buy of each size ? So far I have two packs of newborn.

I did this and ended up with far too many size 1s and 2s. Try to make sure no one else is also doing this for you too, and I'd be more tempted to buy some size 3s and 4s too as there's no telling how quickly they'll grow out of the newborn ones. Also, I found some brands were shit and leaked which was annoying because I couldn't take them back.

I just have 2 packs of newborn too. We're trying different brands then will buy more once we know which one we're going for. This is DC2 - the main thing we can remember from last time is that Pampers were rubbish for new borns so we're avoiding them.

I wouldn't buy loads, or bigger sizes, until you know what brand you prefer, unless you know it's going to be a bigger baby but even so, dad can go out for a pack late at night if needs be.

Buy a pack of the cheapest you can easily get hold of. If you try them and they work OK then you'll save a fortune finding that out early!

I got a small pack of every brand I could easily get. Tried them all and then bought more. As long as you have enough for the hospital (a pack or two) you'll be able to get more. Don't panic buy.

This was my plan only but a couple packs
Of each and then I knew what I like anyone got any thoughts on Aldi's nappies? They won awards

We have used Aldi nappies all the way through for ds2 and he is 2 now. I have never had a problem with them. I would say they are definitely worth trying.

lozbeth · 16/04/2018 21:20

@MercuryRising I'm so glad you said that cos they seem good value for money cheaper than others and I'm hoping to use them and the wipes as they won awards

We didn't get on with Aldi nappies so no good for us, but we use Asda's little angels sensitive wipes and they are great.

HolyShmoly · 16/04/2018 21:26

We've done the same as others. Small pack of aldi, asda, tesco and pampers (that we got free.) See which ones fit her wee bum and don't cause rash and then get whatevers cheapest. The shops won't run out.
What works for some won't work on others, just based on how they are shaped. My long, slim nephew can only wear Aldi, but his sister got on with a different brand better.

neomamma · 16/04/2018 21:28

We tried every brand of nappies in the early days to find what worked for us. Aldi nappies are our favourite (and the wipes are great - nice and thick and they don't dry out like some others - as good as Pampers but cheaper), followed by Tesco. Lidl nappies are fine too. Pampers are not really worth the extra money in our experience.

RosieCotton · 16/04/2018 23:33

We used aldi nappies with my son and plan on using them again this time. They are the only nappy we found which was hypoallergenic. My son was really allergic to pampers and boots nappies. Asda nappies where awful too from what i remember the chemical smell from them was horrendous.

We stilk use aldi wipes now (DS is a 5 year old) and i found the unfraganced ones really good and thw scented one where very strong and i only ever used 1 pack of them

Not too many of the smallest size. DD outgrew them by 2 weeks and we had to give loads away (turns out they fitted my niece’s baby Annabel doll a treat).

Just buy as needed. No need to stock up. You'll be at the store plenty.
