Morning sickness when getting up early...

I'm usually an early bird. Up at 05:45 to get the train at 06:45. Bit of a commute to work and if I go in later I end up not getting home until after 7. Problem is, my morning sickness is a hell of a lot worse when I get up early! And by early, I mean if I am up before 9am and have even the slightest sense of feeling tired I will be vomiting most of the day. I have food by my bed, I'm on medication, I snack throughout the day, I do everything to prevent this but it still keeps happening.

Is my only option to go in late and come home late? Anyone have any miraculous ideas that might help? Anyone in the same boat?

Feeling awful and dreading my alarm going off every morning.

Oh god I'm the same. Luckily my work are v flexible so I go in late/work from home if I have to. What meds are you on? I'm on ondansetron (still! At 30 weeks) and am usually ok with one pill first thing in the morning - I.e. Before I lift my head off the pillow. If I'm very tired though I'll sometimes need another one in the afternoon. (In the first trimester it was every 6 hours like clockwork!!)

Hmm. I came here to suggest you eat as soon as you get up as that was the only way I staved off sickness, but it looks like you do that already...

You say it's caused by feeling tired if you get up early - are you tired because you need to go to bed earlier? I know it sounds obvious but have you tried that? Not much of a miracle cure but all I can think of at the moment.

@Gennz18 thank you. I was on Stemetil which didn't work and am now on metoclopramide which is better but still being sick 4/5 times every morning. Then a handful of times throughout the day. If I could take sick leave I would but unfortunately I'm not being paid for it!

@TinyTerror1 haha! I'm in bed by 9 every night! (Saddo). The problem is I wake through the night so often that I don't ever eat a good sleep.

So excited for second trimester!!

I think perhaps my job is less demanding than yours going by your timings, but I’ve majorly cut back on the hours I was doing - was working from 7am (husband dropped me off on his way to work) until 5 (and he picked me up again - I don’t drive and there’s no public transport!) and now am working the bare minimum of 9.30 - 5.30. I’ve had a few comments but starting work later means I don’t vom at work (except for that one time when I forgot to have breakfast - oh dear). Are there any changes you can feasibly make? Do they have flexi-hours?

I'd say if you are still being sick that often you need to return to the GP and ask for different meds; I went through various combinations of cyclizine, metaclopramide and procloperazine (which I think is the same as stemetil) before they gave me ondansetron which has been a game changer.
