Health anxiety specially toxoplasmosis

So I do have anxiety and I am starting CBT on Monday and discussing possible medication then too but I want to explain something that happened to me which is currently worrying me and I’m hoping for some rational reassurance.

Last week on Tuesday we went to an outdoor play area. When we arrived I realised there were donkeys, alpacas and goats with kids. I checked if there were any sheep or lambs and any newborn goats. There weren’t. I stayed away from the animals and my mum took my daughter to feed the goats with animal food, she then took her to wash her hands with warm water and antibacterial soap. We then went on to wash our hands several times while we were there even once we’d left the animal area and I avoided gates and fences and when we left my mum (bless her) used antibacterial wipes for our boots and shoes. The kids were already a month old and didn’t touch my daughters clothes, only her hands when she fed them and we did wash our hands well throughout our visit. Do I need to speak to my MW in your opinion or have I taken all the precautions I needed to? I’d appreciate any responses as at the moment I am being irrational and cannot see sense and decide if I need to speak to someone about risk of infection or not. 😞

Speaking as someone who has had blood tests done for toxoplasmosis during this pregnancy (after a total meltdown panic thanks to some pink pork) it sounds to me like you’re all taking the necessary precautions. Remember that you do need to actually ingest it to catch it, so if you’re having a thorough hand-wash you should be fine.

I went to my GP in a bit of a state about it and she was lovely and patient and sorted out the blood tests for me. All came back clear. It was oddly reassuring that both she and the microbiologist at the blood labs had to look up what test was needed as it’s so rare in this country!

Thanks @bethacus it’s nice to know I’m not the only worrier. I’m at the midwife tomorrow anyway so I’ll mention it to her and she what she thinks just to put my mind at rest! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. 😁
