Just cooked a chicken fillet in the oven at 170 fan assisted for 50 minutes. It came out chewy and watery bouncy texture. It was a Lidl chicken fillet cook from frozen. I've not eaten it only had one mouthful but worried now!

Fine. Probably overcooked. Fillets only need 25 minutes or so!

I think you will be fine. 50 minutes for a chicken fillet is ages. If there is anything wrong with it though, it's more likely to make you unwell than the baby I reckon.

DragonsAndCakes · 15/04/2018 16:00

You can tell by whether it’s pink in the middle. If not it’s fine.

Thanks everyone. It was frozen from Lidl, it just said 170 50 mins. Might be better off getting fresh fillets.

The cook from frozen ones are cooked already before you buy them. You will be fine, don't worry. More room for food poisoning with fresh.

It's not a bad idea to use a meat thermometer if you're ever uncertain.

sparkles212 · 15/04/2018 17:16

Addy, the frozen fillets are not precooked. I always buy frozen chicken and when its defrosted its clearly raw! However OP, I'd be very shocked if yours wasnt cooked through after 50 mins, even from frozen.

These chicken breasts probably have a lot of added water which might be why they seemed a bit odd.
