Is breastfeeding 2nd time/subsequent times still painful initially?

Hello, this may seem like a stupid question, but I remember the initial curl toeing pain when initially breastfeeding my first until my nipples toughened up. Does your body go through the same process again subsequent times round? Or because you’ve done it before it’s not the same?

So much less painful and easier with my second, I had only stopped breastfeeding my first about 6 months before so I wonder if that meant my nipples were already pretty tough! You’ll know what you’re doing this time though and know that the pain doesn’t last forever which makes it a lot easier

Yes I'm afraid so it was for me 3 times equally painful. Perhaps that painful phase didn't last quite so long on subsequent babies.
