Hi all! I am currently 5 weeks with first baby but possibly a little less than that as I have just come off the pill so my cycle has been between 28-32 days.

I’m so excited but feeling a lot of symptoms that are making me nervous. I didn’t think I would feel much different at this point. I have cramps on and off like period cramps (not agonising but noticeable) and I can’t sleep very well on a night because of them. I’m sleeping fine during the day in between though 🙈 I am also getting hungry if I don’t eat more often and starting to feel sick. Is all this normal?

I have looked online and it says mild cramping with no bleeding is normal I’m just so worried this is too much cramping if that makes sense? I’m going to see the GP tomorrow for bloods and to sort first midwifes appt but I’m so worried.

I also work in an environment where I have to tell my boss ASAP that I am pregnant as there are certain things I won’t be able to do, I don’t want to tell people then find out it all is going wrong.

Any advice or even hand holding would be great if anyone has been in the same situation or just wants to tell me I’m going nuts! My husband certainly thinks I am although he is trying to be patient 😫

That all certainly sounds very normally. I was quite cramp until about 8 weeks. Hunger and sickness is good sign too! Congrats! X

I had awful cramping that started 2 days before my missed period (so at around 4 weeks) through to around 6 weeks. Never had any bleeding. I had to see the nurse at my GP during this time for a referral to the midwife ans she assures me this was absolutely normal. I'm now 32 weeks and my pregnancy has been utterly unremarkable, no problems whatsoever and the baby has developed normally. Hope that helps put your mind at rest a bit.

Sounds entirely normal. Most areas just get you to refer yourself to the midwife, no need to see gp.

Thank you for the reassurance, in case you hadn’t guessed from my post I’m a worrier 🙈 I want to see the gp because of the area I work in I have a few questions and can’t see the midwife until mid May :-) hopefully everything will go fine I will try to stress less! :-)

I was the same with you with the hunger/nausea - I found my nausea was almost always fixed by eating something, but I had to eat basically immediately! Try to keep little snacks handy to help deal with it. I understand the stress about having to tell people at work, I didn't even tell my family until 8 weeks!

I hope you have a supportive boss and can manage to keep the people told to a minimum for now. I don't know what you do, but perhaps you can come up with a cover story together with your boss, e.g. if it's lifting then bad back. If you work with chemicals then I can't think of anything off the top of my head unfortunately. Good luck xx

Oh I’ll manage to keep it quiet at work by just being rota’d to different areas :-) and yes I am eating everything 🙈😂

Sounds very similar to my early symptoms. I basically felt like I was just about to start my period for a few weeks - crampy, overtired and just a bit run down. I was also constantly hungry, could eat a full meal and then need a snack a few minutes later! So all sounds normal to me. Smile

I’m feeling much better :-) mentally anyway! Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply xx
