Hi, I'm a first time mum to be and I'll be 38 weeks on Wednesday.
When is it best to buy a nursing bra?
Are sleep bras worth buying?
Thanks!

I’ve bought some cheap soft ones from amazon - I got ones that are sized sml as then I can get measured after birth. I’m using them in pregnancy too as they are comfortable.

Do NOT go to mothercare! Bravissimo were the best ones I bought.

Second vote for Bravissimo. They're more expensive but they are significantly higher quality and much more comfortable. I've got 3 and 2 cheaper M&S ones that started off ok but aren't great now.

I found sleep ones very helpful as I leaked a lot and needed something to keep the breastpads in place. I've got 2 JojoMamanBebe ones that have been great.

Sorry should add - id buy 1 or 2 now and then see how you get on

JoJo Maman Bebe basic 2 pack sleep bras are incredible (i think they're £19 or something like that for 2). So, so comfy and after my milk came in I found I needed bras at night even after the leaking stopped for support. I have to say I wasn't too impressed with the fitting service from Bravissimo. Personally I found Debenhams non-wired but padded nursing bras to be the most comfortable and practical, they come in S, M, L sizes so much easier to size up and buy 😊

At 11 months I'm still just using soft nursing bras (from amazon and H&M) but I'm not particularly big breasted so don't need much support. If you're wanting proper bras then you'll need to wait until your supply has regulated, which will be a few weeks after the birth.

I remember needing a sleep bra/ cami top at night for breast pads but also as it was more comfy - my breasts were v sore when engorged and also took a few weeks to settle to a predictable size! So I also used that during the day too I quite liked hotmilk ones later on. They got a lot bigger than I could imagine after birth!

Ekphrasis · 15/04/2018 08:27

@mummabubs are they the cross over ones or the clip ones? I've been looking at those.

mummabubs · 15/04/2018 10:20

As in the JoJo ones @Ekphrasis? These ones 😊

Literally the most amazing things ever, if I'm not going out in public I just wear these day and night! 🙈 (fresh ones obviously but still!)

mummabubs · 15/04/2018 10:21

I would say check sizing mind as i was a 10/12 and needed a medium when according to their measurements should have been a S, but then I have large boobs and they do stretch quite a bit!

Ekphrasis · 15/04/2018 13:49

Great thanks, I've been looking at those!

happymummy12345 · 15/04/2018 13:55

I had some specific maternity bras because I was told they were more comfy. I knew I wouldn't be breast feeding, but thought I'd try them anyway. I hated them and soon went back to my normal ones with supportive underwire.

Cynara · 15/04/2018 13:59

I had some really comfortable ones from Hotmilk. I think I heard it recommended on here by a few posters at the time, iirc.

Whatamuddleduck · 15/04/2018 16:34

I just got a bravado bra from jo jo at 37 weeks. Wish I did it ages ago as it’s so comfy and everything else I’ve had has been uncomfortable all the way through pregnancy. I’ll be back for more once baby arrives and boobs settle down.

Kalinka16 · 15/04/2018 16:38

I’ve got whopper jugs and had my nursing bras from Bravissimo (bought early as I don’t live in the uk). We made a guesstimate on final cup size. Also wore them to sleep in too. In fact wore them pretty much for 2 years...
