After 2 years of trying, I’ve had what I think is a positive test. DH and I are mega happy and can’t quite believe it after so long trying.
I’m going to text again tomorrow to be sure, but what do I need to do???

I think you inform your GP and refer yourself to the maternity ward you want online.

Your GP generally won't be interested in most areas -, home tests are as reliable as theirs and midwives will do bloods, refer for scan etc.

You need to contact your surgery and ask how to self refer to the community midwives. Sometimes you'll see them at a health centre, sometimes your GP surgery and some work from a hospital Base.
They'll see you about 8-10 weeks for booking in, take your medical history, take bloods, weight, BP etc and refer you for your scan at around 12-13 weeks.

Ring your GP surgery and ask the receptionist what's next as it does vary area to area. In my area she said I don't need to see a doctor but that she'd book me in for a midwife appointment for the 8 weeks mark. It felt weird doing nothing but 'waiting until then! She did tell me to pop in and pick up a new pregnancy pack from the docs surgery in the meantime though. I also ended up paying for an early scan privately to check all was okay - the early days can be worrying!
Mega congrats :) :)

Thank you al, I’ve spent so long hoping for a bfp but now I have one I’m all over the shop Confused it seems I should have found out about pregnancy as well as trying to conceive

I felt exactly like that! It's like something you work towards but have no idea what to do when you finally get it! I'm still freaked our about it and I'm 16 weeks! :)
Just take each day as it comes. And in the early weeks you don't really have to know anything- just a few foods to be careful with (NHS) website, take your folic acid, perhaps avoid obvious extreme sports, but otherwise try to carry on life as normal for a while :)

Congrats @surreygirl1987 and I’m so pleased to hear it isn’t just me in a panic!
I’m tinging the doctors tomorrow at work (when I can find a few mins alone) so thank you all.
Biggest issue so far is I haven’t had proper tea since Friday, decaf just isn’t the same Grin

Congratulations Thanks
If you know which hospital you plan to have your baby at then look online at their website as their may be a form for you to refer yourself to them online and/or further instructions on what to do next.
Otherwise call your GP surgery tomorrow morning and ask if you can book into the midwife through them.
